History

For much of its early history, Blazing Flame was a small, vulnerable mountain tribe. Its records span three hundred years, during which more than ten tribal chiefs died without meeting a good end. The tribe relied on the Kui Ox Fist, a body-tempering art based on the Mountain Splitting Kui, but the method could not support cultivation beyond the third-tier Celestial Meridian Realm. 3

Its fortunes changed through Shen Can's witchcraft and cultivation deductions. During a plague outbreak, his witch runes eliminated Plague Worms and protected the tribal land; Huo Xian subsequently yielded the tribe's witch position to him. 24 The tribe later annexed the Shanghuang Tribe, gaining resources—including Iron Wood—and adopted a five-year plan covering cultivation, witchcraft, agriculture, population administration, trade, and relocation to Blazing Flame Mountain. 60

The tribe's rise brought it into open conflict with the Xiaoyang Clan. When threatened with a northern “harvest” of Human tribes, Blazing Flame scattered into the mountains with its Sacrificial Cauldron and divine seat rather than face the enemy unprepared. 99 Huo Tang later led campaigns that destroyed seven Xiaoyang settlements and killed more than 24,000 Xiaoyang before summoning allied Human tribes for a decisive battle. 105

At the Zhushui campaign, Blazing Flame fielded its own soldiers at the center of the allied formation, equipped its allies with captured armor and weapons, and employed replicated giant crossbows. The alliance defeated the Xiaoyang main force, establishing Blazing Flame as the dominant Human power in the Northern Lands. 106 107 Its subsequent Grand Sacrifice elevated it to an Upper Tribe and established a covenant binding more than a hundred tribes to its leadership. 108 110

After expanding into Ji Land and assimilating large numbers of survivors and subordinate peoples, Blazing Flame formally adopted a policy of internal integration rather than maintaining a division between its original members and later arrivals. The main tribe left its secluded river-valley settlement, and intermarriage and shared identity were promoted under the common name “Blazing Flame.” 180 183

The tribe attained Marquis status under Huo Shan, then developed its territory through literacy campaigns, standardized cultivation methods, trade, forging, defensive construction, and incorporation of refugees and lesser tribes. 232 233 244 It later destroyed Ao Shan and its subordinate tribes, imposed unified writing and cultivation systems in Yongyi, and became the core power behind the Giant Mountain Alliance. 289 307

Identity and Integration

The tribe adopted “Flame” as the generation character for its younger generation, reflecting its elders’ hopes for a period of growth and prosperity. 38

As its population expanded through rescued survivors, absorbed tribes, and vassal peoples, Blazing Flame increasingly emphasized a shared tribal identity. Orphans with suitable talent could receive the Huo surname, while promising youths from outside settlements were brought to the main tribe’s Martial Hall for long-term training. 180

Education and Cultivation

Great Formation

Blazing Flame’s great formation is central to its defense. It allows ordinary tribesmen, witches, Martial Artists, battle flags, and war drums to combine their strength against enemies far stronger than individual defenders. 267 268 273

During the war against the Holy Envoy Tribe and several Marquis Tribes, the formation enabled Blazing Flame to kill the Marquis of Qingyang and resist Fifth Tier attacks. 267 271 Shen Can later activated the battle flags and the Kui Ox War Drum to mobilize the battle intent of the entire tribal land, contributing to the deaths of Ancestors Ao Shan and Tianzheng. 273

Territory and Settlements

Blazing Flame originally operated from mountain territory near the Great Marsh and later relocated toward Blazing Flame Mountain. 60 Its main territorial ambitions expanded after it became a Marquis Tribe, with the tribe establishing garrisons in territory vacated by Yanran and gathering scattered refugees and small tribes under its jurisdiction. 244

Its later tribal land was designed around the Blazing Flame River Valley as an ancestral land. Planned zones included spiritual plants and medicine in the east, forging and smelting in the west, and external reception in the south. The expanded settlement was intended to cover tens of thousands of miles. 303

By the later period, Blazing Flame controlled eleven marketplaces across Yongyi’s Nine Lands, including four in Ji Land. These marketplaces functioned as trade centers, farming hubs, and bridgeheads for governing subordinate tribes. 300
