Background / History
Shen Can became the Blazing Flame Tribe's Temple Guardian unexpectedly and performed the sacrifice of a Mountain-Cleaving Kui. The ritual awakened the Sacrificial Cauldron within him, identifying him as its Sacrifice Master and granting him thirty-three years of lifespan from the offering 2.
He accepted Huo Xian as his master in medicine, ritual practice, and the duties of a Witch Doctor. While the tribe initially knew Witch Doctors chiefly as healers and neutralizers of beast-blood violence, Shen Can used the Cauldron's deduction ability to develop martial arts and witchcraft far beyond that limited inheritance 3.
His early improvements to the Kui Ox Fist were covert. He carved the revised forms onto stone flakes and left them in the wordless shrine of the Ancestral Temple; when the shrine cracked and revealed them, the tribe accepted the method as an ancestral manifestation. Huo Ning, Huo Yu, and Huo Yan subsequently reached the Mountain Opening Realm through it 8.
Although Shen Can originally strengthened the tribe mainly to secure his own survival, he gradually embraced the Blazing Flame Tribe as his true home. He took responsibility for medicine, military training, records, refugees, cultivation systems, and the tribe's long-term future 25 32.
Appearance
Shen Can is initially described as physically frail despite his authority and skill as a Temple Guardian. His cultivation progressively transforms his body, covering it in shifting beast patterns before leading him toward a distinctly human-centered Battle Body 32 214.
- His arms can manifest Kui patterns when he circulates inner energy 71.
- His early Desolate Beast Battle Body combines Kui, Bear, Tiger, and other beast patterns into a fused form 133.
- His Battle Body reaches thirty-five zhang while becoming approximately seventy percent humanoid 214.
- By the Sixth Tier, his fused Dharma Image and Battle Body reach 2,700 zhang in height 405.
- After refining his Human Race Origin, his Dharma Image becomes identical to his true human appearance, without concealed beast patterns 404.
Personality
Shen Can is pragmatic, observant, and intensely self-improving. He studies incomplete manuals, enemy methods, beast patterns, formations, cultivation data, and even failed experiments for material that can be deduced into stronger systems. His habit of recording practical results lets him turn individual discoveries into standardized methods for the tribe 9 32 336.
He is also highly strategic. Shen Can concealed the origins of the improved Kui Ox Fist to secure acceptance, built measurable standards for military training, and later used formations, memory extraction, clones, and impersonation against stronger enemies 8 32 412 413.
His growing authority does not erase his concern for others. He treats injured disciples, teaches advanced methods to witches, identifies overlooked talent such as Yan Zeng's affinity for star power, and seeks stronger foundations for his allies and guardian beasts 301 332 405.
Against hostile forces, Shen Can can be ruthless. He is willing to sacrifice clones, capture enemies for intelligence, and eliminate opponents through deception when he judges the Human Race Alliance to be endangered 412 413.
