Background / History

Xun'er was brought back to the Gu Realm, where Gu Yuan personally arranged her marriage to Gu Fei. Though married for six months, she refused to consummate the marriage and treated Gu Fei more coldly than a stranger. During that time, she remained emotionally attached to Xiao Yan and used Gu Clan resources to send him core Dou Skill scrolls. Gu Fei ultimately sought a divorce after confronting her over her continued assistance to Xiao Yan. 1

After the divorce, Xun'er attempted to reconcile with Gu Fei, but he barred her from approaching him. She publicly accused him of sending people to kill Xiao Yan, an accusation that most Gu Clan members rejected due to their faith in Gu Fei's character. 8

She later slipped out of the Gu Realm to search for Xiao Yan in Wutan City and the Monster Mountain Range. Gu Yuan allowed her departure but arranged for Ling Ying and a hidden Dou Zong protector to accompany her; she also carried a Space Jade Slip capable of summoning Gu Yuan in a life-or-death crisis. 22

Her search brought her into repeated conflict with Gu Fei. Seeing him with Yun Yun stirred jealousy and insecurity, leading Xun'er to accuse him of targeting Xiao Yan and to misinterpret Gu Fei and Yun Yun's time alone in a cave. After Ling Ying explained that Gu Fei had been breaking Yun Yun's seal, Xun'er recognized that her accusations had been impulsive and attempted an apology. 31 33 34

Xun'er's cultivation stagnated while she devoted herself to helping Xiao Yan and the Xiao Clan. Gu Yuan eventually ordered her return to the Gu Realm, where she learned Gu Fei had already become a Dou Zun. The widening gap, Gu Fei's relationship with the Little Fairy Doctor, and mockery from Gu Yunyou drove her to pursue the Emperor Altar baptism and cultivate in earnest. 77 81 96
