Territory and Organization
Gu Realm
The Gu Clan resides in the Gu Realm, an independent space accessed through a black spatial gate that rises from a lake and connects to Ancient Saint City's barrier. The gate emits enough spatial pressure to unsettle weaker cultivators. 106
- Ancient Saint City serves as the entrance point for outsiders entering the Gu Realm. 183
- The realm contains dedicated guest districts, ceremonial plazas, ancestral grounds, mountain residences, and reception halls for visiting factions. 117 156 184 291
- Its Heaven and Earth Energy surpasses that of the Yan Clan's Flame Realm, reflecting the clan's deep foundation. 117
- The clan deploys Shuttle Sky Boats, enormous flying warships used for transport. 106
- During the final campaign, the Gu Clan fielded organized armored forces, flying magical beasts, ground battle beasts, and war banners bearing its emblem. 340
Bloodline Structure
The Gu Clan places exceptional importance on its Dou Di bloodline.
- Gu Clan Descendants are the clan's most numerous and lowest-ranking stratum. They were once its core, but their bloodline has diluted through generations. 106
- Descendants whose bloodline mutates or awakens can receive clan resources, become recognized members, and gain status within the clan. 106
- The clan's geniuses are drawn from an extremely small fraction of its population, described as one in ten thousand—or even one in a million. 106
- The clan tests bloodline grades and grants clan patterns; Gu Yao, for example, received a Purple Gold clan pattern for an eighth-grade bloodline. 192
- Xun'er's ten-star God-Rank Bloodline is regarded as an exceptional source of prestige for the clan. 193
Black Annihilation Army
The Black Annihilation Army is a major Gu Clan force.
- Gu Fei became its Fifth Commander after defeating a Six-Star Dou Zun while at Four-Star Dou Zun cultivation. 117
- Gu Yao is one of the army's Four Great Captains. 192
- Xun'er later commands the army during the hunt for the Soul Clan infiltrator Gu Yang. 322
Leadership and Notable Members
- Gu Yuan — Clan Chief and a peak Nine-Star Dou Saint. He appointed Gu Fei as Young Clan Leader, defended the Spirit Clan, exposed the Soul Clan's Tunling Clan abilities, and led the alliance against Hun Tiandi. 233 295 299 312
- Gu Fei — Young Clan Leader and designated future Clan Chief. His cultivation, alchemy, battlefield leadership, and strategic judgment grant him near-absolute authority within the clan. 233 286 306
- Gu Lie — Elder who supports Gu Fei's marriage decision against bloodline-purity objections. 109
- Gu Nanhai — Veteran elder who receives foreign delegations, participates in high-level operations, and supports Gu Fei's efforts to secure major opportunities. 117 239
- Gu Xiong — Elder involved in confronting Soul Clan retaliators in the Eastern Region. 217 218
- Three Immortals of the Gu Clan — Senior Seven-Star Dou Saint experts led by Gu Dao; they fought the Soul Clan's Demon Saints during the first alliance battle. 312
- Xun'er — God-Rank Bloodline holder, Gu Clan elder, and commander of the Black Annihilation Army during the pursuit of Gu Yang. 156 193 322
Strength and Resources
- The Gu Clan considers itself the strongest Ancient Race of the past thousand years and does not fear open conflict with the Soul Clan. 208
- Its younger generation includes numerous high-tier Dou Zongs and Dou Venerates, a level of talent that overwhelms outside visitors such as Xiao Yan. 183
- Gu Fei's alchemy directly strengthens the clan: his Ninth-Grade Bodhi Great Return Pills raise a peak Dou Zun's chance of reaching Half-Saint by fifty percent. 233
- The clan used Gu Fei's alchemical standing and Seventh-Star Dou Saint breakthrough to raise its continental prestige; by this point, Gu Fei's opinion carries weight even in Gu Yuan's decisions. 286
- Its high-level experts include Gu Yuan, the Three Immortals, another concealed Seven-Star Dou Saint, Gu Nanhai, and Gu Fei. 239 312
- The clan observes the Ancient Races' Clan Covenant, which restricts the free action of the highest-level experts, though it is willing to confront factions that violate or exploit it. 212 239 264
History
Protection of Gu Fei and Xun'er
When Gu Fei and Xun'er secretly left the Gu Realm, the clan's higher-ups allowed them to seek experience rather than forcing them to remain in its sheltered environment. They separately dispatched elders to protect both youths in secret. 64
This protection became explicit when a Gu Clan elder intervened against Mu Gu the Elder and Star Picker Old Ghost, killing both and revealing that he had been secretly guarding Gu Fei. 104
Bloodline-Purity Dispute
Gu Fei's intention to marry Xiao Yi Xian sparked opposition from senior elders concerned that an outsider would dilute the Gu Clan bloodline. Gu Fei answered that he would become a Dou Di and renew the clan's bloodline; Gu Lie backed him, ending the immediate dispute. 109
The issue reflects the clan's long-standing concern over declining bloodline purity. Its elders note that no Dou Di has appeared on the continent for ten thousand years, making Gu Fei's declaration extraordinary. 109
Escalation with the Soul Clan
The Gu Clan's relations with the Soul Clan deteriorated sharply after Gu Fei openly admitted to killing Hun Ya and Hun Li, then killed the Half-Saint elder Hun Xia within Gu Clan territory. Gu Fei declared that the Gu Clan did not fear war with the Soul Clan. 208
The Soul Clan retaliated by sending Dou Saint-level operatives into the Eastern Region to massacre sects and target Gu Clan members. Gu Fei identified the Soul Clan as the likely culprit, and Gu Clan elders engaged the attackers. 212 217 218
The clan subsequently dismantled Soul Hall assets across the Central Plains, destroying major halls and seizing accumulated Soul Origin. 220
Gu Fei's Appointment
After Gu Fei supplied the clan with Bodhi Great Return Pills and demonstrated exceptional cultivation and alchemical talent, Gu Yuan formally named him the Gu Clan's Young Clan Leader and future successor. 233
Gu Fei's continuing breakthroughs, including his rise to Seven-Star Dou Saint and creation of the Angry Buddha Lotus Flame, greatly elevated the Gu Clan's prestige and consolidated his authority. 286 287
Infiltration by Gu Yang
Gu Yang, the ancestral hall's guardian, was exposed as a Soul Clan infiltrator. He had secretly harbored loyalty to the Soul Clan and anticipated its plan against the Gu Clan. 291
After the Soul Clan's initial defeat, Gu Yang attempted to abduct Gu Fei's children as leverage. Cai'er stopped and injured him, prompting a full-scale pursuit by the Black Annihilation Army. 322
Gu Yang later revealed that the real Gu Yang had died centuries earlier and that Lord Void had forcibly fused a Soul Clan soul with his body. 324
Diplomacy and Relations
- Soul Clan — Principal enemy. Their conflict escalates from killings at the Sky Tomb to retaliatory massacres, the Spirit Clan crisis, and two alliance invasions of the Soul Realm. 208 217 299 341
- Spirit Clan — The Gu Clan intervened when the Soul Clan attacked the Spirit Realm and attempted to seize its Ancient Jade. Gu Yuan's arrival forced Hun Tiandi's retreat, while Gu Fei's warning was credited with enabling the rescue. 295 299
- Lei Clan — Initially a contentious rival after Lei Dong humiliated Gu Clan youths, but later a key ally. Lei Ying fought Gu Fei to a draw and supported the alliance's campaigns. 156 305 311
- Yan Clan, Yao Clan, and Stone Clan — Fellow Ancient Races that joined the Six-Clan Alliance against the Soul Clan. 305 306
- Xiao Clan — The Gu Clan safeguards the Xiao Clan's Ancient Jade. Gu Yuan maintains that the weakened Xiao Clan entrusted it to the Gu Clan, while Hun Tiandi accuses the clan of acquiring it through trickery and force. 197 299
- Ancient Void Dragon Clan — Zi Yan's clan joined the alliance during the decisive battle, reinforcing the Gu Clan-led coalition against the Soul Clan. 347
- Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan — Became a vassal of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan under Zi Yan after its remaining Dou Saint submitted to Gu Fei. 269
Six-Clan and Seven-Clan Alliance
Following the Soul Clan's assault on the Spirit Clan and the revelation of the Tunling Clan's bloodline-devouring abilities, Gu Yuan, Lei Ying, Yan Jin, Yao Dan, Shi Yi, and Ling Yuan agreed to form the Six-Clan Alliance. 299 305
Gu Fei advised the leaders not to depart their territories hastily, warning that the Soul Clan could exploit their absence to attack other clans. His foresight was recognized by Gu Yuan and Ling Yuan. 300
Gu Fei also proposed destroying the Soul Hall before the main war. The alliance approved the plan and rapidly annihilated the Soul Hall's branch halls and Heaven Hall. 306
Blood Axe Xiao Chen later pledged the Xiao Clan's strength to the alliance in exchange for help locating his missing descendants, turning it into the Seven-Clan Alliance. 337
War against the Soul Clan
First Soul Realm Campaign
The alliance army, led by Gu Yuan and Gu Fei, entered the Soul Realm through a Space Crack. 309
During the ensuing battle:
- Gu Yuan confronted Hun Tiandi away from the main battlefield. 312
- The Gu Clan's Three Immortals confronted the Soul Clan's Demon Saints. 312
- Gu Fei killed Hun Feng, defeated Hun Miesheng, and later led alliance forces through Hun Yuantian's defensive barrier. 314 319
- The Soul Clan suffered severe losses, but its realm was moved and became temporarily untraceable. 321
Decisive Battle
After Gu Yuan located the Soul Realm again, the Gu Clan army and its allies invaded through the shattered spatial barrier. 340 341
- Gu Fei used his Emperor Realm Soul to overpower the injured Nihility Devouring Flame. 342
- He employed Yellow Springs Sky Wrath to weaken Hun Tiandi for Gu Yuan's attack. 347
- Zi Yan led the Ancient Void Dragon Clan into battle, decisively strengthening the alliance's assault. 347
- Hun Tiandi's self-destruction devastated the Soul Realm and killed countless Soul Clan experts. 349
Following the Soul Clan's defeat, the alliance permitted Gu Fei to absorb the Nihility Devouring Flame and entrusted the Gu Clan with safeguarding the Ancient Jades. 349
Ancient Jades
The Tou She Ancient God Jade was divided into eight pieces among the Ancient Eight Clans and serves as the key to the Ancient Emperor Cave Abode. 293
- The Gu Clan possesses the Xiao Clan's jade in custody. 197 299
- The Soul Clan's attempt to seize the Spirit Clan's jade exposed its wider plan to gather the fragments. 293 299
- After the Soul Clan's destruction, the other patriarchs presented their clans' jades to Gu Fei to open the Ancient Emperor's inheritance. 350
