Li Qi looked at Chang'an before him.
Many hundreds of millions of years ago, when he had come to Chang'an, all he could do was marvel at its prosperity.
But now, Chang'an had become like this.
Was it the Human Path reaping what it had sown?
By rights, at this level, everyone should long since have moved beyond the stage of the strong devouring the weak. Including Li Qi, many great beings had no interest whatsoever in bullying the weak.
They merely sought a higher Dao and had no interest in devouring or plundering.
Yet after the Human Emperor fell, these great beings had still come.
They had come for all manner of reasons.
For instance, Li Qi had little interest in the Human Path's treasures and opportunities. He merely wanted to see how the Human Emperor had fallen, what immense weight, what kind of thing, had completely sealed off the possibility of a first-rank being.
If he could see that thing, Li Qi felt his understanding of "Heaven" would advance another step. It was an opportunity no less than receiving personal guidance from Azure Heaven.
Facing the sealed-off Chang'an, Li Qi glanced at the second-rank beings beside him.
"What do you say? Break in?"
"Of course. Could this place possibly stop us?" said one second-rank being, then took the lead.
A hole immediately appeared in Chang'an City.
Though the battle did not involve spacetime, that did not mean second-rank beings would not employ the simplest, most primitive violence.
Li Qi followed after him.
Before him stood Chang'an's Imperial Guard, squads formed of more than a dozen third-rank beings.
Every non-Human Path second-rank being who broke in faced such a squad.
