Amitabha Buddha had no real connection to the Bodhi Tree. Sitting beneath it now was merely a clumsy imitation of the World Honored One, the Tathagata.
But this Bodhi Tree truly had significance, for it was Bodh Gaya—the place where Buddha had attained the Dao.
Amitabha Buddha sat here, relying on the advantage of the terrain to contend against the Heavenly Demon.
The Heavenly Demon had no such advantage. He merely used the methods he had once used against the World Honored One, raising a demonic tide in an attempt to annihilate the Bodhi Tree.
The two contended over this.
At every moment, countless Weichen space-times were annihilated here. Demonic power and Buddha's light intertwined within them, the situation constantly reversing itself, the same events cycling over and over again.
As everyone knew, Amitabha Buddha had two attendant Bodhisattvas: Guanyin Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva.
After all Li Qi and Guanyin Bodhisattva had done, how could they possibly fail to contact Amitabha Buddha?
It was merely that Amitabha Buddha needed an opportunity.
An opportunity to suppress the Heavenly Demon.
The Heavenly Demon was powerful; everyone knew that. He had once been suppressible because the World Honored One, the Tathagata, had sealed him within Formless Heaven. In that state, only a portion of the Heavenly Demon's power could appear outside. To a Rank One, this was an exceedingly brief contact and posed no threat whatsoever.
But now, the Heavenly Demon had completely broken free.
Suppressing the Heavenly Demon after he had left Formless Heaven was far too difficult. There had to be an opportunity for a countermeasure.
