The palace floated in the sky, with a small mountain below it. The entire palace was arranged in pleasing layers, like a landscape painting. Yet one need only look down to discover that the entrance below was unexpectedly desolate, enough to inspire dread.
But once one grew accustomed to it, one could instead feel a tranquility like that of secluded cultivation.
Of course, that was assuming one was unaffected by Li Qi's fourth-rank pressure. Otherwise, one would not feel tranquility, but understand why it was "desolate" below.
Nothing dared linger here, so naturally, it was desolate.
Li Qi and Shen Shuibi stood within, looking out.
They had not originally been looking outside, but after Li Qi agreed to lay out his plan in full, Shen Shuibi rose from his arms and pushed him out onto the platform.
From here, they could see very, very far.
It was nearly noon. Gentle sunlight passed over the northern horizon, and the mountains, like shattered glass, reflected those rays in every direction. Every peak shimmered with blue and white halos.
Those halos were the runes of the surrounding formations.
Farther away, they could see the earth sinking into a frigid horizon. That should not have existed, because the world was one continent, with no horizon to speak of. If one's eyesight was good enough, one could see hills millions of li away.
But this place was different.
Some indescribable purple barrier slightly distorted everything.
The light emanating from that purple barrier made Li Qi narrow his eyes. If he did not, his eyes would be scorched as though a mortal had stared directly at the sun.
Even so, it took him a while to adjust to the sight before him.
