Background / History

Healer and Aspiring Alchemist

Xiao Yi Xian originally wanted to become an Alchemist so she could treat more people. She studied medicinal books diligently and memorized the characteristics and properties of herbs, but lacked the Wood and Fire elemental requirements for alchemy. After obtaining the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture, she chose to pursue strength through poison instead 46 54.

Myriad Medicine Pavilion in Qingshan Town was a place she considered home. Its influence also offered her protection: the covetous attention directed at her and Xiao Bai diminished when they reached its premises 75.

Meeting Xiao Bai and Finding the Scripture

Their first encounter in the Monster Mountain Range was hostile. Believing Xiao Bai to be a pervert, she drugged, restrained, and struck him. After recovering, he broke his ropes and frightened her by pretending to be a vengeful ghost; her response confirmed her identity 46.

Their temporary alliance began under coercive circumstances. Xiao Bai held down her eagle companion, Xiao Hong, and demanded that she smile before releasing it. She complied to protect the beast, treated its injuries, and later accepted his treasure-hunting proposal because he offered her the medicinal herbs they found 48.

The expedition led to a cave containing medicinal plants and three treasure chests. One held the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture. Xiao Yi Xian subsequently kept the scripture, decided not to return immediately to Qingshan Town, and invited Xiao Bai to her hidden medicinal garden 51 52 53.

Medicine Valley and Separation

In Medicine Valley, Xiao Yi Xian began confronting the implications of her constitution. She feared that taking poison would make her unacceptable to others. Xiao Bai’s promise to remain beside her reassured her, and she gradually became more attentive to him 70 71.

Affection did not erase her irritation with his behavior. She rejected his request to become his girlfriend and attempted to leave secretly, packing her herbs and belongings into the Storage Ring he had given her. He caught up with her and accompanied her to Qingshan Town 73 74 75.

At Myriad Medicine Pavilion, she insisted that he leave. Although she felt regret, she wanted time to understand their relationship and decide how to live as a Poison Master 75.

Becoming the Heavenly Poison Woman

In the Chu Yun Empire, Xiao Yi Xian endured repeated schemes and poisoning attempts. Her Calamity Poison Body allowed her to survive toxins that would otherwise have killed her. She eventually founded the Poison Sect, building it through bloody struggles until she became known as the Heavenly Poison Woman 270 278.

Her constitution also caused uncontrolled outbreaks that killed innocent people. Her parents had died during one such eruption, leaving her afraid that anyone close to her—including Xiao Bai—might suffer the same fate 271.

Battlefield Reunion

Xiao Bai identified the black-robed Poison Sect leader during the conflict between the Jia Ma and Chu Yun Empires. She initially denied knowing him and attacked him with poisonous mist, but he continued approaching despite being poisoned 269.

He brought her back to their hidden valley, where she finally relaxed enough to sleep in his arms. On discovering that he had left her poison untreated, she slapped him out of anger and concern for his health 270.

Xiao Bai told her that he had found a way to control her poison body’s eruptions and demonstrated that he could treat his poisoning. After two days exchanging accounts of their separation, they returned to their respective forces. Their relationship helped bring the war to a temporary halt 271 274.

Poison Sect Rebellion and Alliance

Xiao Yi Xian warned Xiao Bai that the Scorpion Sect had secured outside support and enlisted the Golden Goose Sect and Mu Lan Valley against them. She pledged to stand with him, while he identified the mysterious backing force as Soul Hall 274.

Within the Poison Sect, her deputy rebelled over her alliance with the Jia Ma Empire, expecting the Ten Scorpion Gate to install him as a puppet sect master. Xiao Yi Xian and her allies defeated his faction. She killed the deputy with Xiao Bai’s assistance but offered other traitors a chance to redeem themselves in battle 278 279.

After the Ten Scorpion Gate’s destruction, the elder Wu Ya was exposed as another infiltrator. When four additional elders fled, Xiao Yi Xian pursued them with streams of gray Dou Qi; Xiao Bai dealt with Wu Ya 281.

Controlling the Poison Body

Back at the Poison Sect, Xiao Bai and Xiao Yi Xian worked together to condense her poison into a stable Poison Pill. He then gave her a Child Flame of the Green Lotus Core Flame to prevent backlash and continually refine its toxicity 283.

During the following half-year, the Poison Sect became the Chu Yun Empire’s state religion and entered a mutual-support alliance with the Bright Cult. The Luo Yan and Mu Lan Empires became vassals of the Jia Ma and Chu Yun Empires respectively 283.

Xiao Yi Xian continued pursuing her own career, which Xiao Bai respected. In later events, she remained beside him and challenged his riskier political ideas, warning against making an enemy of the Ancient Clan while they already opposed the Soul Clan 284 315 317.

Appearance

Her earlier presentation emphasizes flowing white robes, large bright eyes, and delicate features; as the Heavenly Poison Woman, she also appears concealed beneath a black hooded robe 70 211 269.

  • White hair — Revealed when Xiao Bai removes her hood during their reunion 270.
  • Violet eyes — Described during her confrontation with the fleeing Poison Sect elders 281.
  • Pale complexion — Associated with cultivating poison arts 271.
  • White dress — Worn when she returns to the battlefield with Xiao Bai 271.

Personality

Xiao Yi Xian’s original ambition is compassionate: she wants to save lives rather than merely obtain status as an Alchemist. Her inability to fulfill that ambition hurts her deeply, but she responds by choosing another path instead of abandoning her future 46 54.

She is cautious, practical, and outspoken. She questions Xiao Bai’s motives before joining his expedition, prioritizes medicinal herbs over his antics, and repeatedly resists his teasing and attempts to dictate their relationship 48 51 73 75.

As Sect Master, she becomes ruthless toward threats to the organization she built. Nevertheless, her treatment of the rebellion distinguishes between its leader and followers: she kills the deputy while permitting others to earn redemption 278 279.

Her reserve softens around Xiao Bai, but concern often appears as anger or criticism. She rebukes him for neglecting his poisoning and later recognizes his childish behavior toward Xiao Yan. She also considers the strategic consequences of antagonizing another ancient clan 270 317.
