Mr. G's terms for cooperation could be called exceedingly sincere; even Hei, standing nearby, could not help but feel tempted.
He had originally found it somewhat hard to accept Mr. G's deception of everyone, but after hearing the broader prospects the latter described and looking back at everything that had happened in New Shanghai 0297, it suddenly did not seem all that important.
New Shanghai 0297 had been a city built on lies to begin with. Mr. G had merely added another lie to it. If everything he had seen on the screen was real, then even if they proceeded according to the original plan, they would still only be living within another lie.
But now, Mr. G had truly offered them a path out of this city of lies. Just thinking about such power was exhilarating.
