Whispers
"If I remembered correctly, there were quite a few countries in the Soviet Union. Russian shouldn't have been the only language, right?" Mouse said.
"Mm. The Soviet Union was an alliance made up of fifteen countries, and each country had quite a few ethnic groups, so there were many languages. Russian was the main language of communication, and the authorities had always worked to promote it, but local languages were retained in different regions as well. For example, here in Ukraine, everyone speaks Ukrainian. Does anyone here speak Ukrainian?" the doctor asked.
The players looked at one another, but no one answered.
Although Zhang Heng had now mastered nine languages, unfortunately, neither Russian nor Ukrainian was among them. Just as everyone was staring blankly at each other, no one expected Coconut, who looked half-asleep, to speak up. "I have... an item that allows communication through thought."
"Mm?"
"I'm not joking." As she spoke, Coconut pulled an earring from her pocket. "Here. This is it."
Just as everyone rejoiced at her words, no one expected Coconut to open her mouth and swallow the earring whole.
"What exactly did you inject her with?" Mouse angrily demanded of the doctor beside him. "Don't tell me she's mentally unstable because of Nuclear Radiation too?!"
The doctor's expression shifted slightly under Mouse's questioning, as though he had thought of something, but he said nothing.
"It has nothing to do with him."
Coconut swallowed hard, forcing the earring down into her stomach before speaking again.
She looked calm. Though the sedative made her appear somewhat sluggish and her eyes unfocused, she did not seem to have lost her basic ability to think. Then she extended her uninjured hand and opened her palm.
Mouse saw the earring in her hand and breathed a sigh of relief.
