"...May you rest in peace."
Before going to sleep, Lu PingAn went to see someone.
Or rather, something that had once been a person. Dragon Moon Island was about to enter its settlement period, and Old Liu, who had used Deferred Payment too many times, was also approaching his end.
Standing atop the dragon's head and watching the morning sun, Lu PingAn joined the other demigods in this strange early funeral.
As a frontline base, Dragon Moon Island had endured bloody battles and fulfilled its historical mission. Relocating its population had also become a recent priority.
Naturally, fewer and fewer people remained on Dragon Moon Island. In the end, only some old-timers and powerful figures capable of ignoring disaster warnings were left.
What would ultimately become of this island? Would it fall apart? Or, after being damaged too many times, would its wounds stack upon one another until it directly collapsed into dust?
"Deferred Payment was used time and again, and the wounds were restored time and again. It should begin with earthquakes and gradual fractures, then eventually collapse completely into fragments."
When Old Liu had asked before, Lu PingAn had cruelly told him the "truth."
Yet Old Liu had merely smiled openly and said nothing.
Now, as they watched the sunset, quite a few of Old Liu's old friends had come to visit him—or rather, to bid him farewell in advance.
Lu PingAn had not known Old Liu that well, certainly not as well as those old friends who had been keeping him company every day lately. Watching them calmly drink tea, play chess, and chat in the Courtyard, as leisurely as retired old men, while also arguing over take-backs and boasting, he felt inexplicably envious.
He did not ask foolish questions like whether it had been worth it
