What should you do when, in the midst of a naval battle, you encounter an unstoppable super battleship?

When an ironclad ship met a sailing ship, when a composite armored vessel encountered a little assault boat, was there really no chance of victory?

Uh, if both sides had normal tech trees, one cannonball per little kid, then there really did seem to be no chance. But now, both sides were operating at the level of "shooting by fate."
