Background / History

Xuandu was personally molded by Yun Ting as one of the earliest Innate Humans. He later became Laozi's sole personal disciple and the First Disciple of the Ren Sect, though Yun Ting treats this origin as grounds to deny Xuandu seniority. 111 330

His early interactions with Yun Ting establish a long-running rivalry. After Xuandu blocks Yun Ting outside Taiqing Palace, Yun Ting forcibly enters and physically throws him aside. They eventually agree that, in their next Kalpa Tribulation challenge, the loser will become the junior brother; Yun Ting further declares that Xuandu need only survive three hundred rounds to claim victory. 110 111

Personality

Xuandu is ambitious, proud, and highly competitive. He repeatedly seeks Merit, valuable opportunities, and victories that could elevate his standing, including his attempt to claim the Human Dao Lord position and his desire to gain Merit by delivering the Xuanyuan Sword. 196 261

He is also impatient with gradual cultivation. He asks Laozi about consuming Zhunti's Sage flesh to improve quickly, but Laozi redirects him toward measured training and opponents closer to his level. 219

Despite frequent defeats and humiliation, Xuandu remains persistent. He continues challenging stronger opponents—including Yun Ting, Di Jun, Golden Peng, and You Wen—and does not easily concede in battle. Later, after repeated losses, he shows more caution by refusing to enter the dangerous Ice Array conflict. 330 360 439 538
