Background

Lin Su first appears while substituting for his absent master as the keeper of the Dao Seeking Pavilion. Behind a bamboo curtain, he provides paid guidance to sect disciples despite believing that he lacks a spiritual root and has no place in a cultivation sect. Xiao Yao regards him as an exceptionally capable older brother. 1

His later path combines the Literary and Martial Ways. He is described as possessing Dual Roots of Literature and Martial Arts, but initially lacks direction in martial cultivation; Zhang Yiyu's instruction and the Black Flood Dragon Demon Core become decisive in establishing his martial foundation. 42 43
