The three breathed a sigh of relief. Bronya immediately returned to her usual self. "I never expected the uncle who taught us history to be the First Herrscher!" the girl exclaimed, full of gossip.

Tesla, standing nearby, pondered for a moment. "I remember Mei and her are both Herrschers, right? Should St. Freya Academy be renamed Herrscher Academy?" This was a jab from the Lobster Doctor.

The white-haired ball of fluff instantly bristled. "Who are you calling Herrscher Academy?!" (You're the last person qualified to say that, you know?)

"Idiot Kiana, don't disturb Xing's rest." Bronya's icy glare scared Kiana into hiding behind Mei, trembling.

Welt hesitated for a moment before deciding to clarify Xing's gender issue in advance. "When I was examining him just now, I found that he is a normal boy, with no feminine characteristics whatsoever."

"Sakura, are you there?" she tried to call out to the shrine maiden, but the voice did not respond.

"Did Schicksal or World Serpent capture me?" Fear began to grow within Xing.

"Sizzle!" The girl turned around in fright, only to see a window on the wall being opened, revealing a mature woman with purple hair.

"Mei?" The other person's appearance was extremely similar to Mei's, but in terms of aura and figure, she far surpassed the Raiden Mei Xing knew. Moreover, unlike Mei, Xing felt a scholarly aura from the purple-haired woman.

PS: Mei in Honkai Impact 3rd originally had black hair and only turned purple after Honkai-infused. You can refer to the in-game battlesuit models.

"You know me? Sakura told you, right? Don't be afraid, Ling. Tell me how you're feeling right now." Dr. Mei looked at the bewildered girl before her. Even she was having a headache at this moment. Humanity had only recently defeated the Herrscher of Binding, and a new Herrscher had already been born. However, although Honkai Energy reactions were detected in her, the person did not exhibit the destructive power of a Herrscher, nor had her consciousness been lost. What was going on?

"Ling? My name is Xing!" the girl corrected her name.

Dr. Mei frowned slightly and began to ask her for relevant information.

1. The woman before her was definitely not the Mei she knew; she was more in line with the Dr. Mei from her memories. 2. She seemed to have transformed into a girl named Ling. This name reminded her of Crimson Prison Beast. 3. Based on the information provided by the purple-haired woman, her current situation was one where she could be killed at any moment.

If these judgments were correct, then combined with the other information she had just obtained, she had most likely transmigrated to the Previous Era... As if.

"Did Crimson Prison Beast do this?" "Who is that?" Dr. Mei showed a rare look of confusion, but it turned into composure almost instantly. "Pardofelis, you want to see her? I'll call her over." She then left.

"Phew~" Xing breathed a sigh of relief, but something felt off. Did Dr. Mei's expression change too quickly? Ah, well, Pardofelis was just one of many second-generation Flame-Chasers. If not for the tragedy with the Herrscher of Binding, she wouldn't have even been in the running for the Thirteen Flame-Chasers. It was already impressive that Dr. Mei remembered her.

But it still felt a bit strange. What was it?

As Xing was pondering, a lively voice reached her ears. "Yo, hello! You must be Sakura's sister, Ling, right? I'm Pardofelis, but you can call me Cat Sister!" A cat-eared girl dressed in revealing clothes hopped in.

Yay, a real cat!

"H-hello, I'm Ling." Xing hadn't seen the plot of the Elysian Realm, or she would be incredibly excited right now.

"I brought you some snacks. Don't be shy, eat up. Just have Sakura reimburse me later," Pardofelis said with a sly grin, like a black-hearted merchant.

"Cat Sister, um, where is my sister now?" Xing asked Pardofelis.

"Ah, I think Boss Kevin called her away for some urgent mission. I'm not too sure, though. I'm not good at fighting, surviving this long is pure luck, hehe~" The cat-girl smiled innocently. Xing looked at the two cat ears on her head and really wanted to pet them.

"Wh-why are you looking at my ears? You don't want to pet them, do you? You can't, they're very sensitive!" Pardofelis yelped, her tail standing on end. She fumbled behind her and pulled out a fluffy cat, tossing it to Xing. "If you want to pet something, pet Can, don't get any ideas about me!"

The soft and cuddly Can felt great to pet, but something still felt off. What was it? Xing petted the cat, and it wasn't until Pardofelis left that she remembered she had forgotten to ask for help getting out.

Based on Pardofelis's story in the Elysian Realm, if she asked for help, the other party would likely agree. She could ask Dr. Mei to call her over tomorrow.

That night, in the dim observation room, Xing tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. "Strange, what is this feeling? It's like I've overlooked some clue."

Closing her eyes, everything that happened today flashed through her mind: Dr. Mei, Sakura and Hua who weren't there, the enthusiastic Pardofelis, and the soft, cuddly Can. Speaking of which, poor Pardofelis. She loved cats so much, but after becoming a Flame-Chaser, the cats no longer approached her. It wasn't until her memory was imported into the Elysian Realm that Can, for some unknown reason, was born to be by her side...

A bolt of lightning struck in her mind. She finally understood where the strange sense of incongruity was coming from. Can only existed within Pardofelis's memory, so how could it appear in reality? And in this memory, no less! Dr. Mei couldn't have known Pardofelis's name either! Because before this, Pardofelis was just an ordinary Flame-Chaser who hadn't achieved any military merits!

What in the world was going on? Xing sat up abruptly, about to slowly sort out her thoughts, when the observation room door was suddenly violently flung open. A crazed soldier with a gun walked in, the dark muzzle pointed at the girl's terrified face.

"Die, Herrscher!" The merciless roar of the firearm echoed in the small observation room. Several bloody wounds bloomed on the girl's body, and crimson blood stained the laboratory walls.

Xing collapsed in a pool of blood, her body growing colder. It hurt, it hurt so much, her body felt so light...

"Excellent! We've taken down another Herrscher without breaking a sweat!" The soldiers cheered around the girl's cold corpse, completely oblivious to the resentment in her wide, staring eyes.

"Where... where am I?" Xing opened her eyes and saw an unfamiliar ceiling.
