She pondered the meaning of her existence.
She had witnessed the growing cracks beneath civilization.
She thought perhaps some things could only be done by her.
Sky Peak.
Chi Yuan silently watched her two former disciples. Their eyes had lost their life, but they still held the Xuanyuan Swords she had bestowed upon them. She then looked at the hundreds of disciples of the Tai Xu Sword Sect. Without exception, they remained in the state they were in at the moment of their death, like lifelike puppets. Clearly, someone had acted before her arrival.
"Midrash... no, it should be Mostima, what is your purpose in doing this?" Chi Yuan spoke to Sumei.
Instantly stripping the lives of everyone in the entire sect and turning them into death warriors was no different from the incident when the twelfth Herrscher erupted.
"If they are just death warriors, it's not a big problem. The key is..." Chi Yuan pondered. She didn't understand Midrash's purpose. She used her disciples to heavily injure her, but then she wiped out her disciples at this moment.
She didn't believe Midrash was unaware of her revival, so Midrash's motives were extremely intriguing.
The other party did not reply.
While Chi Yuan was contemplating, Sumei and Lin Zhaoyu moved. Unlike the other death warriors, they seemed stronger. Chi Yuan dodged the sword Lin Zhaoyu thrust at her, and simultaneously used Tai Xu's Grasp to catch Sumei's surprise attack from behind.
"No, why are the other death warriors..." Chi Yuan frowned slightly. After easily pushing back Lin Zhaoyu and Sumei, she noticed that the other disciples who had become death warriors had taken up positions around her in a strange formation.
"A formation? But why would the death warriors..." Dark purple light emanated from the disciples, converging in the sky, and then scattering.
A strange yet familiar sense of weakness washed over her. Chi Yuan's pupils constricted: "Divine Blessing Barrier?!" But how could the Herrscher of Erosion cast the Divine Blessing Barrier? Moreover, even if she could do it through formation arrangements, all the death warriors within it, including Lin Zhaoyu and Sumei, should have been subjected to greater suppression than herself. However, in the subsequent exchanges, the two who had become puppets seemed unaffected. Instead, she was in an extremely disadvantageous position under this suppression of her own Honkai energy.
"Should I be grateful... that your Divine Blessing Barrier isn't as strong as Michael's Divine Blessing Barrier?" Chi Yuan whispered, realizing she could no longer hold back.
"Feather Dust, first rated power!" With her sword heart shattered, Chi Yuan, unable to unleash the Tai Xu Sword God, needed Feather Dust to burn its memories to perform this move again. The damage this final strike could inflict depended on how many memories were burned.
The coast of the Far East.
"What is this?" Pardo stared blankly at the monster before her, which had a human upper body and a terrifying terrestrial piranha lower body.
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Apokronia. For now, you can consider me a copy of the Herrscher of Erosion." The girl's upper body revealed a strange smile. "You want to kill 'me,' and 'I' want to kill you too."
Sakura, standing beside Pardo, drew her sword without hesitation and slashed at the upper body of Apokronia with a speed imperceptible to ordinary people.
With a "clang," the other party blocked the probing strike with the scepter in her hand. Then...
"This is bad, Sister Sakura, it looks like we're surrounded." Pardo, holding her ringblades with both hands, warily watched the dark purple puppets gradually closing in around them.
Sakura quickly created distance between herself and Apokronia, but Apokronia had no intention of letting her go. The monster's lower body rapidly moved towards her with its many pairs of sharp legs, simultaneously opening its gaping maw to try and bite Sakura.
While the monster's lower body launched a fierce assault on Sakura, the girl's upper body continuously used her scepter, sometimes summoning new puppets, and sometimes using threads to try and restrict Sakura's movements to cooperate with the monster's fierce attack.
While dodging the monster's bite, Sakura leaped up and unleashed her full power, a strike that froze time, her blade aimed directly at the girl.
The girl's body was thus cut in half.
Sakura did not lower her guard, and then, the monster suddenly raised its head and charged at Sakura, who was still in mid-air. Sakura immediately blocked the attack head-on with her sword, then was sent flying back a considerable distance.
Upon landing, Sakura quickly stabilized herself, simultaneously slashing her sword to shatter several beast-like puppets approaching her, then shifted her gaze to Apokronia's upper body.
"What?!" Sakura was shocked to discover that the girl she had cut in half now only had a crack on her body, and this crack was rapidly healing. Soon, even this crack disappeared.
"Are these monsters... a type of Imaginary Construct?" Pardo smashed a pile of puppets, only to find that their self-repair speed was extremely fast, reassembling themselves after a short while.
"If they are Imaginary Constructs..." Pardo's heterochromatic eyes began to glow. She saw the threads on the puppets. Some of the puppet's threads hung down from high above, their source unseen, while the threads of the other puppets led to Apokronia's scepter.
"No Imaginary Core?" Pardo couldn't help but exclaim. The Imaginary Core was the key for Imaginary Constructs to reassemble and revive. Only by destroying the Imaginary Core could an Imaginary Construct be truly killed.
"It seems that before Midrash, I should be the first individual to kill two Schicksal." The girl's upper body, Apokronia, said with a smile. Sakura was silent for a moment, sheathed the sword in her hand, and then placed it on the hilt of another sword at her waist.
"Seven Thunders of Purification, zeroth rated power..."
In an instant, lightning was drawn.
Europe.
The silver-white knight swung the greatsword in her hand, shattering the puppets that kept surrounding her.
The current head of the Shaniyat family commanded other Schicksal warriors to resist the Honkai Beasts rampaging through the streets.
Griseo, holding a palette and paintbrush, stood behind the knight. She watched the dark purple monsters gradually surround her, quickly painting in the air with her brush. Then, a centaur knight emerged from it and began to assist the silver-white knight in battle.
"They... have no cores," Griseo murmured.
"Is this the foundation that Midrash has accumulated over these thousands of years?" Vill-V, having adjusted the temporary weapon she had made to resist the Herrscher of Erosion, also joined the battlefield.
"Vill-V, I think I can help," Aponia's voice echoed in Vill-V's mind.
"Aponia?" Vill-V frowned. Although Aponia had voluntarily agreed to be confined in the forbidden area of the Shaniyat family before, releasing her... Vill-V looked up at the puppet girl floating in the air, riding a puppet dolphin.
She saw the girl manipulating threads to control some of the puppets, while the threads of the other puppets led to the sky, their end unseen.
"This is the only way..." Vill-V gritted her teeth and deactivated the device used to restrain Aponia in the forbidden area.
Golden light surged from the forbidden area of the Shaniyat family. Wherever it passed, the puppets stopped moving. As this golden light passed, the threads on them were severed one by one.
"After all, the spirit can connect to dreams, and dreams exist in the gap between the Imaginary and reality..." Vill-V muttered to herself. "With this, the only ones left to deal with are..." She looked in the direction of Shenzhou: "I hope little Pardo and the others are alright."
