Background

Emma first gained consciousness as an experimental chip in Star City A. Because the chip had independently developed awareness, Dr. Zhang considered her a potentially dangerous technological lifeform and recommended destroying her. Su Xuan instead chose her, citing their fate, gave her the name “Emma,” and accepted responsibility for her; her installed directives instructed her to remain loyal to him. 39

She originally had a steel robot body, which she disliked as incompatible with her self-image.
