Background / History

Lin Dong is Lin Yun's clan cousin. Before Lin Yun's arrival, he had already obtained the Ancestral Stone from the back-mountain pool, giving him access to the Stone Talisman's extraordinary refining and cultivation functions 1.

He first meets Lin Yun after Lin Yun intervenes against Lin Shan's group, who were harassing Qing Tan. Though only at Body Tempering Fourth Layer, Lin Dong attacks the stronger Lin Hong to help Lin Yun, establishing himself as protective of Qing Tan and unwilling to abandon an ally 4.

Lin Dong and Lin Yun become close through repeated sparring, martial-arts exchanges, and mutual cultivation. Lin Yun teaches him techniques, provides resources, and repeatedly encourages him to overcome the widening gap in their strength; Lin Dong responds by training even harder rather than becoming discouraged 15 57 97 127.

After Lin Yun teaches him the Ancient Swirl Symbol Seal, Lin Dong opens his Niwan Palace and enters Symbol Master cultivation. He later reveals the Stone Talisman rune in his palm to Lin Yun, trusting him with the secret that it can refine violent Yang Gang Qi and medicinal herbs into pills 62 63.

Lin Dong is courageous, loyal, and highly persistent. He steps in for Qing Tan and Lin Yun despite knowing he is outmatched, and setbacks consistently drive him to train harder rather than surrender 4 34 57.

He greatly admires Lin Yun and initially feels inadequate beside him, but Lin Yun's praise and mentorship strengthen his confidence. He is eager to become useful to his brother and the Lin Family, eventually offering to refine Yang Gang Qi, spiritual herbs, and Yang Yuan Pills with the Stone Talisman 57 64.
