"Your brain is now the most advanced thinking organ this planet has ever produced," Andrew said. "Bar none."
"At present, the number of neurons in your brain has already reached more than four times that of an ordinary human. This is all thanks to the characteristics of avian neurons."
After learning that Murphy's Patronus was a raven, the Transfiguration Research Group had studied the creature.
They conducted many experiments and found that ravens were indeed extremely intelligent, but they did not understand why they were so intelligent. It was only after they used fluorescent markers to examine the neural structure of the raven brain that they discovered the neural density of ravens was astonishing.
Compared to mammals, a raven's brain neurons were smaller, and therefore more densely packed. In the same amount of space, the number of neurons in their cortex was more than four or five times that of mammals. As a result, even though ravens had only a very small brain, their neuron count was roughly the same as a monkey's.
This was also why Murphy believed he could enhance his mental abilities through an advanced raven Animagus transformation.
"Not only that, smaller neurons also bring faster thinking speed. Without changing the basic structure of your brain, this transformation is equivalent to turning each of your neurons into four. Four times the neurons can produce twenty-four times the synaptic connections, and the physical upper limits of your memory and learning ability are also twenty-four times higher than those of an ordinary human."
"The multilayered nature of the senses you mentioned before is one manifestation of this enhancement. It isn't merely because your senses have improved, but because the brain capable of processing sensory information has become stronger. You can now obtain more effective information from all kinds of
