Within the Star Luo Empire,
Hadrian Kingdom, Hadrian City
The Hadrian Kingdom was a border state of the Star Luo Empire, bordering the Balak Kingdom of the Heaven Dou Empire.
As the Balak Kingdom was quite powerful, the Hadrian Kingdom joined forces with the Kirikris Kingdom to its west in resisting Barak.
Long Fei's destination this time was Hadrian City, the Hadrian Kingdom's capital.
The Hadrian Kingdom was not large, roughly half the size of the Balak Kingdom, but its strength was nothing to scoff at. The king of the Hadrian Kingdom was a Spirit Douluo.
Together with the two Spirit Douluos in neighboring Kirikris Kingdom, they could stand against the Balak Kingdom.
Another crucial point was that northeast of the Hadrian Kingdom lay a mountain range known as the Jincheng Mountain Range. Beyond the Jincheng Mountain Range stood the location of the continent's foremost power, Spirit Hall—Spirit City!
Spirit City stood at the edge of the Star Dou Great Forest. Since Spirit Hall's founding, they had always been on the front line against the beast tides of the Star Dou Great Forest.
However, after developing to this point, how much of Spirit Hall's original purity remained? Still, overall, Spirit Hall's existence at least kept the Two Great Empires relatively peaceful.
Other Spirit Master sects could not casually bully commoner Spirit Masters. Spirit Hall could be considered a path forward for commoner Spirit Masters.
Upon arriving in Hadrian City, Long Fei headed straight for the city's noble district.
Before long, Long Fei arrived before a rather large residence. It was far bigger than his residence in Suotuo City.
Long Fei pushed open the door and entered. Two people in the courtyard were sparring, testing each other's strength. Their cultivation was clearly profound; though both were exerting themselves, they had not damaged so much as a flower or blade of grass in the courtyard.
Two others were playing a game of chess, though one side appeared to be getting crushed completely. The remaining two were drinking tea as they watched the game.
"Oh, A Fei is back? It has been quite some time since you returned," one of the old men drinking tea said with a chuckle.
The old man had white hair and a white beard and looked to be around seventy. Yet his complexion was ruddy, his body was not gaunt, and he seemed exceptionally spirited.
"Yes, Big Brother, I'm back." Long Fei smiled as well.
"Xiao Liu, you're back?"
"Xiao Liu, why haven't you brought that little one of yours over for us to dote on?"
"That's right. Are you afraid we'll eat him?"
"Hahahaha!"
A burst of laughter rang out, livening the atmosphere throughout the courtyard.
"Haha, elder brothers, it isn't that I don't want to bring him over. How should I put it... Xiao Lin doesn't talk much and is rather reserved. He probably can't handle your lively personalities." Long Fei smiled bitterly.
"Heh, that's your excuse? We won't eat him. Isn't he merely an Innate Full Soul Power talent that appears once in a hundred years?
You're worried that those great powers will learn of the little fellow's talent and try to assassinate him, but you should know that walls have ears.
If something truly happens, you alone may not be able to protect him. With all of us around, we can keep him safe."
The eldest old man stroked his beard as he spoke.
"Big Brother is right. It can't be helped; Xiao Lin's talent is simply too high." As Long Fei spoke, he used his soul power to enclose the area around them.
"Xiao Lin is only twelve years old, yet his soul power is already at Level 49. He is about to break through to Spirit King. With such talent, even the two great mountains of the Spirit Master world likely had not achieved this much at his age.
This time, I came for two reasons. First, I have broken through to Level 80 and need a spirit ring. Second, I want you brothers to help me take care of Xiao Lin.
Xiao Lin's life has truly been tragic. According to Uncle Chen, his parents were likely killed by people from the Clear Sky Sect. The information Uncle Chen discovered back then was this:
Chen Tianjue, the biological father of Chen Xuanji and Chen Xilin, and his wife Zhu Zhihan, Chen Xuanji's mother, obtained a ten-thousand-year Spirit Bone during a spirit hunt.
Since the Li Clan and Po Clan, lackeys of the Clear Sky Sect, were also nearby, they reported it to the Clear Sky Sect. The Clear Sky Sect dispatched several people to hunt down the couple.
The couple died in a forest outside Fasnuo City, where they were found by Chen Chen. According to Chen Chen, Zhu Zhihan cut open her own stomach and pulled Xiao Lin out.
Then, six years ago, Chen Chen died at the hands of Yu Luomian of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Xiao Lin will have many enemies in the future.
Moreover, I know Xiao Lin's temperament well. He is absolutely not the sort to swallow his anger in silence. He is destined to become enemies with the first two sects of the Upper Three Sects.
Sigh, that is why I ask you brothers to come out of retirement and protect Xiao Lin on his path."
After hearing of Chen Xilin's background, everyone could not help but sigh. This child was far too pitiful.
"He is Zhihan's child? That girl Zhihan was harmed too?" the eldest old man murmured.
"Since this child is that girl's son, this old man cannot simply ignore him. The Clear Sky Sect? Heh. If the Clear Sky Douluo, Tang Chen, had not been so astonishing,
they would have long since been besieged by the Spirit Master world. You beat the young ones, and the old ones come running. Hmph! Brutes who care only about fists and not reason."
Everyone else, including Long Fei, was stunned by the old man's words.
Long Fei asked, "Big Brother, you mean...?"
The old man smiled bitterly. "Zhu Zhihan was this old man's niece. Xiao Fei, the child you brought with you is this old man's grandnephew."
Everyone: Gasp—they drew in a sharp breath, and the courtyard somehow seemed to grow warmer.
Was the world really this small?
"In that case, Big Brother, help me obtain my Eighth Spirit Ring first. Afterward, we can go see Xiao Lin. How does that sound?" Long Fei said after composing himself.
The old man nodded. "Fine."
Only then did the others react.
"Xiao Liu, you've broken through to Level 80? It's only been a few years! Back then, you and I were both Level 76. How are you already Level 80 while I'm only Level 78?" Fifth said.
"Yeah, I never expected you to be the second one to break through Level 80. I thought Third Brother or Big Brother would be the second to do it.
I never expected you to get ahead of us! Damn it, I'm only Level 74 now. Why?!" Seventh said.
At that moment, a blond, middle-aged man with a hawkish nose suddenly stepped forward a few paces. The fluctuations of soul power around him were the strongest in the entire courtyard.
The hawk-nosed man walked up to Long Fei and patted him on the shoulder. "Very good, A Fei. Your Second Brother is happy for you. Just tell me what spirit ring you want, and Second Brother will help you get it!"
"Thank you, Second Brother." Long Fei smiled. "I've already decided. I need a Spirit Beast between thirty thousand and fifty thousand years old, preferably a sub-dragon species with a Dark Attribute.
Such Spirit Beasts are generally found in the Mixed Zone of the Star Dou Great Forest. I will have to trouble you all to make the trip with me."
"A small matter, a small matter."
"I've been staying home so long my bones have gone soft. Perfect, let's go have some fun!"
The seven people in the courtyard left together. They soon departed Hadrian City and headed toward the Jincheng Mountain Range. Their goal was to cross the Jincheng Mountain Range and enter the Star Dou Great Forest!
