Background

For three years, the furnace existed only as an ordinary black iron piece kept close by Lin Chen. It was the sole relic left by his mother, and neither Lin Chen nor anyone else recognized its nature before its awakening. 1 4

It awakened when Lin Chen's unyielding resolve reached its peak and he sent a trace of spiritual power into it. Ancient information entered his mind alongside the command to “Melt,” while the furnace suspended itself above his dantian and forcibly cleared his blocked meridians. 1 Its first demonstrated function was to absorb spiritual energy and convert it into purified energy compatible with Lin Chen's body. 1

Lin Chen subsequently tested its capabilities on medicinal dregs, Crimson Flame Pig carcasses, stone, and a warning formation. Each experiment broadened his understanding of its ability to refine matter, energy, toxins, and even the structures supporting formations. 4 5 9

The furnace underwent its first major evolution after absorbing the Nine-Orifice Black Stone taken from Leopard Garden. The resulting information suggested that the furnace was a Chaos Dao Seed, while the stone served as its Dao Foundation; together, they were capable of refining the heavens and evolving laws. 17 Although much of this knowledge remained sealed, the fusion sharply improved its operation and left nine apertures whose full functions Lin Chen could not yet access. 17 18

As Lin Chen advanced, the furnace developed from a refinement tool into a source of Dao Patterns, soul defense, purification fire, and large-scale forging power. The furnace is not wholly inert. Lin Chen senses a faint spirituality in it during early refinement, including an ability to distinguish the quality of energy in medicinal dregs. 4

During the Potential Stone test, it conceals Lin Chen's true potential and releases false “waste energy” to mislead the artifact's assessment. 20 Its reactions to rare resources can be intensely hungry and difficult for Lin Chen to restrain, particularly when it encounters Seven-Colored Origin Flow. 141

Despite this appetite, it can enter a stable absorption state when its capacity is reached, rather than consuming indefinitely. 142
