Background / History
Past and rise to power
Bibi Dong's attachment to Yu Xiaogang is tied to a painful period of her life. Watching the public acclaim surrounding Ratio, she recalls Qian Xunji forcing himself on her and wonders whether similar recognition for Yu Xiaogang could have prevented it. She later acknowledges that she failed Qian Renxue as a mother and deprived her of affection during childhood 17 216.
She secured the papacy partly through ruthlessly suppressing opposition. During her tenure, subjects connected to Yu Xiaogang and his Ten Core Competencies Theory become taboo within Spirit Hall. Meanwhile, she secretly accepts the Rakshasa God's inheritance and conceals her true condition from other powerful members of the organization 1 9 110.
Conflict with Ratio
Bibi Dong initially wants Ratio driven away. When he criticizes Yu Xiaogang's theories, she storms into his classroom and demands an apology. Unable to refute his arguments, she nearly attacks him, but restrains herself because Qian Daoliu values him 1 3.
Her hostility intensifies as Ratio demonstrates formulas and Soul Tools that undermine her idealized view of Yu Xiaogang. During the handgun demonstration, she catches a Soul Power projectile and recognizes that its destructive force exceeds that of a Soul Elder. The clash between her suppressed emotions and the Rakshasa inheritance subsequently triggers an internal energy crisis and cardiac arrest; Ratio performs emergency treatment 6 7 9.
She then convenes a Supreme Meeting to restrict Ratio's theories, confine him to the Pope's Palace, and place him under Titled Douluo surveillance. The plan is overtaken by the spread of his discoveries and public demands to meet him. Her threats worsen the unrest, forcing Qian Daoliu to intervene 16 20 21.
After another confrontation, her cultivation collapses. Qian Renxue eventually asks Ratio to help, and he enters Bibi Dong's spiritual world, where she appears as her younger self, curled up in a secret chamber. Although he awakens her, she continues blaming him for her reduced Soul Power 26 27 47 48.
Isolation and removal as Pope
As Ratio gains supporters, Bibi Dong loses the obedience of Spirit Hall's elders. Spirit Kite Douluo abandons their shared opposition to him, while Demon Bear Douluo strikes Bibi Dong for threatening him. Yu Xiaogang then publicly defends Ratio rather than supporting her, further damaging her faith in her former lover 89 91.
Bibi Dong changes tactics and tries to bankrupt Ratio's charity through apparent generosity: she supplies administrative support and identifies a large impoverished population for the company to assist. The scheme fails when donations exceed eight million Gold Soul Coins within an hour 93 94 95.
Her dismissal of warnings about unrest contributes to a larger crisis. The Pope's Palace is attacked, and crowds accuse her of coercing Ratio into a sexual relationship. These accusations are rumors, not an established relationship. She attempts to intimidate the protesters with her demonic spider martial soul, then suffers a defeat against Zi Ji, who has believed the allegations 99 102 104 105.
The Worship Hall convenes a Highest Council and removes her as Pope. The office remains vacant, with its duties assigned to the Worship Hall. Afterward, an unexpected increase in her Soul Power makes Bibi Dong question whether Ratio had been helping her rather than merely destroying her cultivation 109 110.
Reassessment and new direction
Repeated encounters with Yu Xiaogang expose the difference between the man himself and the flawless image Bibi Dong has preserved. She eventually arranges to send him away under a false identity, intending that they become strangers 80 99 149 152.
Ratio's lecture on mentality becomes her decisive turning point. She recognizes that her pursuit of quick success and dependence on the Rakshasa Godhood could have cost her sense of self. After clarifying her cultivation direction, she submits the first completed answer to his examination, earns his approval, and privately apologizes for her earlier conduct 157.
Bibi Dong subsequently qualifies as Ratio's student by completing a Third Level Soul Tool. Her research shifts toward practical improvements to daily life, especially the Soul Lamp. Its successful installation throughout Spirit City wins public praise and establishes her as an influential inventor 182 189 192.
Family reconciliation and later leadership
With her former obsession behind her, Bibi Dong regrets her treatment of Qian Renxue and seeks to repair their relationship. Her first apology meets distrust. She then offers to help bring Qian Renxue and Ratio together, although the resulting hotel scheme is disrupted; a later passage identifies the God of Lust as having interfered 193 216 217 248.
By the martial arts tournament, mother and daughter have reconciled. Bibi Dong proposes manipulating the competition to help Qian Renxue and later fights Sword Douluo with an intensity that moves her daughter to tears. Despite her recent god-level breakthrough, she loses their prolonged match 248 251.
Zi Ji eventually reveals their own relationship during a drunken scene outside the Pope's Palace. Bibi Dong initially fears Qian Renxue's reaction, but her daughter accepts the relationship and calls her “Mom.” Bibi Dong then stops trying to hide it 258.
In later leadership scenes, Bibi Dong welcomes Ratio's support for Spirit City and distinguishes her world from the history reported by visitors from another world. She explicitly rejects treating that other history as an inevitable future 267 273.
Appearance
Bibi Dong is described as a mature, strikingly beautiful woman with a noble bearing, fair skin, and an alluring figure 3 77 85.
- Phoenix Eyes: A recurring distinguishing feature 4 92 110.
- Purple clothing: Frequently wears purple dresses or gowns 6 80 82.
- Veil: Conceals her face during her early classroom confrontations, though Hu Liena and Ratio recognize her 3.
- Rakshasa-influenced changes: During severe episodes, her eyes become entirely bloodshot and her exposed skin develops a bluish-purple tint 6.
- Combat armor: Purple armor appears over her body during the fight with Zi Ji 105.
Personality
Initially, Bibi Dong is proud, authoritarian, and fiercely protective of Yu Xiaogang's reputation. She treats criticism of him as a personal attack and refuses to accept evidence of Ratio's superiority. The Rakshasa Godhood amplifies her brutality and loss of control, but her willingness to censor knowledge and threaten crowds also reflects her determination to preserve authority 3 6 16 20.
Her pride makes public humiliation especially painful. She refuses to erase the handprint left by Demon Bear Douluo, choosing to preserve it as a reminder, and turns to indirect sabotage when direct confrontation fails 93.
After accepting her mistakes, she becomes more receptive to instruction and applies her ambition to useful inventions. Her desire for a lasting historical reputation remains strong, but it now produces public lighting and energy-saving technology. She also shows concern for fair commerce and genuine remorse toward Qian Renxue 157 184 189 210 216.
