Background

Gu Yuan is the Ancient Clan’s Clan Leader and a peak Nine-star Battle Saint, regarded as one of the continent’s foremost powers. Despite appearing in a coarse cloth robe, his presence leaves even a Half-Saint feeling powerless. 4

At Gu Fang’s birth, Gu Yuan sealed his son’s overwhelming bloodline because the child’s body could not withstand it. The seal prevented Gu Fang from drawing on his bloodline in cultivation and kept him within the Ancient Realm until it began breaking during the inheritance ceremony. 1

After Gu Fang’s exceptional performance, Gu Yuan maneuvers the Three Immortals into agreeing to take responsibility for Gu Fang’s future cultivation. 9

Divine Grade Bloodline and Soul Clan Attack

When Gu Fang’s bloodline test reveals a ten-star Divine Grade bloodline, Gu Yuan becomes central to the defense against the ensuing Soul Clan sabotage. He shields the ceremony plaza from an explosion, engages the invading Dou Saints, and remains focused on protecting Gu Fang. 14 15

During the clash with the Nihility Devouring Flame, Gu Yuan unleashes the Heavenly Emperor Finger but witnesses his attack devoured by the enemy’s Soul Technique. The Ancient Emperor’s projection then intervenes, revealing the enormous gap between Gu Yuan and a true Dou God. 17

Preparing Gu Fang as Successor

After the trials, Gu Yuan decides that Gu Fang should inherit the Clan Leader position once he reaches the Battle Saint realm and passes the ancestor’s temperament illusion realm. He assigns Elder Han and Gu Nanhai to teach and protect the prospective Young Clan Leader. 13

Gu Fang’s Departure
