"He's moving?"

"Things are fine as they are. Why does he want to move?"

"Does he dislike me and not want to live across from me anymore?"

"Is it because I eat too much? Or because I can't be of any help to him? But as a weak woman, what help could I possibly give Wang Tao in the apocalypse..."

In that instant, Ding Yuqin panicked.

She could only survive by relying on Wang Tao's support. Without him, she would undoubtedly die!

She was still young. She didn't want to die!

"Yeah, I'm moving. Right now."

Wang Tao nodded.

The reason he hadn't gone out at night before was that the Zombies in Building 4 hadn't been completely cleared out. He was worried about unexpected situations, and it was too dangerous in the pitch-black darkness.

But now that all the Zombies had been cleared out, doing some work at night was no longer a problem.

Wang Tao not only planned to move all the supplies to 602, but also wanted to move those chives to the rooftop.

Growing them on the balcony was clearly not as good as putting them on the roof.

He planned to dismantle some furniture and use the Steel Pipe-welded clothes racks on the rooftop to build a simple shed for the Diesel Generator. The smell was far too strong; there was no way anyone could live comfortably with it inside the apartment...

Calling it moving was a bit of an exaggeration. There really wasn't that much stuff.

Anything they didn't need for the time being could stay in Room 501. Wang Tao only needed to move the daily necessities, exercise equipment, generator, and food.

As for the other furniture, beds, and so on, he could just use the ones in 602. Wang Tao wasn't much of a neat freak. Secondhand things were fine with him.

Watching Wang Tao carry bag after bag of food upstairs, Ding Yuqin suddenly felt as though she had been abandoned...

Two hours later.

"Sister-in-law, go back and sleep. I'll handle the rest."

Wang Tao waved her off somewhat disdainfully.

Ding Yuqin was too weak, and her work efficiency was too low. When they worked together, she sometimes even got in his way.

"Okay..."

After Ding Yuqin left, Wang Tao kept working until midnight before finally settling into his new home.

Then, instead of resting, he took a pair of binoculars to the rooftop.

The weather was nice that night, with stars filling the sky.

"Zombies are so active at night. I wonder if they're stronger too..."

Wang Tao felt an urge to test himself against the nighttime Zombies. Of course, it was only an urge; he definitely wasn't going to do that now.

Wang Tao took a dry towel, soaked it in baijiu, then went to the edge of the rooftop and lit the towel with a lighter.

Once the towel quickly caught fire, Wang Tao casually tossed it away.

The flaming towel drifted unsteadily down toward the street, landing among several Zombies.

At the sight of the light, the Zombies immediately rushed over. But after feeling the scorching heat of the flames, the surrounding Zombies instantly backed away several steps. One Zombie stared at the fire somewhat restlessly, while the rest simply left.

After the towel burned away completely, that Zombie waved its arms as it approached and waited by the ashes for a while. Finding nothing, it left as well.

Wang Tao watched all of this from the rooftop.

Then he conducted another test. This time, it wasn't a towel, but a thick wooden stick.

After lighting the stick, Wang Tao threw it into the distance.

Smack—

The sound of the stick hitting the ground drew several Zombies over, but after sensing the firelight, they all left again. In the end, only two Zombies remained, staring at the burning stick from afar.

The stick burned for quite a while. After some time, those two Zombies stopped waiting as well and wandered off with twisted movements.

Seeing this, Wang Tao felt somewhat excited.

"If I turned the area around the residential complex into a wall of fire, wouldn't the Zombies refuse to come over? That would at least make it a relatively safe small Survivor Base!"

Of course, Wang Tao had no intention of actually doing such a thing. This residential complex was in a poor location, with no tall walls and no particularly useful resources nearby.

He didn't plan to stay here for long anyway, so there was no need to consider building a small Survivor Base. Still, he could turn this building into a temporary base...

The next day.

Wang Tao woke up in the large bed in 602.

Before he even had time to wash up, he heard someone knocking outside.

When he opened the door, it was Ding Yuqin. She had arrived right on time.

"Wang Tao, I-I'm here to make you breakfast."

Ding Yuqin was dressed differently than usual today, looking very domestic.

Her black hair cascaded down her back, and she wore a black bow headband. She had on a dark-purple, low-cut spaghetti-strap minidress that perfectly highlighted her lovely hourglass figure.

But what drew the eye most were her long, shapely snow-white legs and the soft, rounded feet in her slippers, stirring an urge to play with them.

Wang Tao had just gotten up. Seeing Ding Yuqin dressed like this, an inexplicable fire suddenly rose within him.

But his self-control was no joke. After all, there had been so many beauties on set while filming; without any restraint, he would have made a fool of himself.

Wang Tao gave Ding Yuqin several appreciative looks before stepping aside from the door.

"Mm, Sister-in-law, come in."

Ding Yuqin's body had been slightly stiff, but upon hearing Wang Tao's words, she finally let out a breath of relief. She had been afraid that after Wang Tao moved, he would no longer need her to cook.

"Oh, and make breakfast a little more lavish today."

Wang Tao suddenly stopped walking. Ding Yuqin, who had her head lowered, failed to notice and bumped straight into him.

"Ah!"

Feeling the softness against his back, Wang Tao very gentlemanly stepped aside and let Ding Yuqin go first.

"Sister-in-law, watch where you're going."

Ding Yuqin's little face reddened as she softly murmured an acknowledgment.

She felt Wang Tao had done that on purpose, but she had no proof.

After watching Ding Yuqin sway her hips into the kitchen, Wang Tao went to the bathroom first, then headed to the workout area and began exercising to vent some of that heat.

An hour later, Ding Yuqin, having prepared a table full of dishes, called Wang Tao over to eat.

Since Wang Tao had asked her to make it more lavish, she naturally had to comply. She knew Wang Tao's appetite; this food was not much at all.

"Sister-in-law, sit down too. Eat with me."

Ding Yuqin had been trying to come up with an excuse to stay. Hearing Wang Tao's words, her face immediately lit up, and she hurriedly thanked him.

"Thank you!"

Wang Tao usually provided her meals only at lunch. Could this breakfast be an extra treat?

But Wang Tao's next words made Ding Yuqin realize she had been overthinking it.

"I'm going out later, beyond the residential complex. Sister-in-law, just stay in your room and don't wander around."

"Ah? You're leaving the complex?"

She was instinctively shocked. She was terrified even of stepping out of her room, yet Wang Tao was actually leaving the complex? There were so many Zombies outside! Could it be... Wang Tao was going to look for the Survivor Base? But Wang Tao still had not agreed to take her with him! No wonder he would not invite her to breakfast, and had made it so lavish—it was a farewell meal! Ding Yuqin immediately panicked.

She instinctively grabbed Wang Tao's hand, her face full of pleading.

"Um, Wang Tao, p-please don't leave your Sister-in-law behind, okay? Take me with you. I'm begging you..."

Wang Tao was taken aback at first, but when he saw Ding Yuqin's expression, he realized she had probably misunderstood.

So he said calmly:

"It's too dangerous outside. Sister-in-law, you should stay home. I'll leave you some food."
