If it had been anyone else.
In a situation like this, they would surely have opened their arms and pulled each other into a tight embrace.
But Liu Di merely wore a faint smile, utterly content, as though he had no regrets left in this life.
The two stood side by side atop the small hill, beneath the peach blossom tree.
Redback and Furball Chicken were there too. This scene was just like it had been back then.
Gu Fan pouted. "This is the tenth game of hide-and-seek, and I still had to reveal myself first."
"Heh heh."
Liu Di smiled gently. "I'm just rather stupid. I could never find you."
Then.
Liu Di turned to look at the woman beside him, suddenly feeling that none of this was quite real.
He raised a hand and gently plucked a petal from Gu Fan's shoulder, deliberately brushing against her body as well. Soft, and warm.
It was real.
Casting aside the doubts in his heart, Liu Di suddenly asked, "What happened to your wrist? You've been keeping me from seeing it."
Gu Fan's hand, hidden behind her back, shrank away again. She pouted. "Something I got on the Path of Return. I don't like it."
Liu Di frowned slightly. "If you don't like it, throw it away."
"I can't."
Gu Fan's delicate brows knitted slightly.
Liu Di craned his head back, trying to see what exactly was on Gu Fan's wrist.
Gu Fan tugged at her sleeve. "Promise me you won't get to the bottom of it."
Liu Di clearly saw a flickering glow within the white gauze sleeve around Gu Fan's wrist, as though it possessed life.
Liu Di frowned lightly, but the puzzled look vanished in an instant. He then nodded. "All right."
They were quiet for a moment.
