Big Plane

The "harrowing" flight lasted for over an hour. Just as the small plane was about to run out of fuel, they finally arrived at Las Vegas International Airport.

The sky around them had turned dim and yellowish. Though it was only six in the evening, the thick ash had already stained the entire heavens an unsettling dark red.

The airport was in utter chaos. Large numbers of refugees and firefighters were jumbled together, and the dense confusion and terror were practically tangible.

On those refugees' faces, they saw hysteria at having lost everything, bewilderment toward the unknown, and despair for the future.

Li Wei was the first to step off the plane. Seeing the scenes around him, even his face lacked its usual calm.

He released Pulse Sensing to scan the surroundings, clearly taking in everything within a two-kilometer radius.

"Be careful. Don't touch this area, and hold your breath as much as possible!" After wrapping Li Wei's seat in his suit jacket, Jackson sternly warned the people still on the plane.

Kate and Gordon nervously stepped over the seat Li Wei had used, making absolutely sure their hands did not touch even the slightest thing Li Wei had come into contact with.

If it hadn't been the end of the world, they would never have believed Li Wei was a walking mass of viruses...

But even the apocalypse had happened. What reason was there left not to believe something so absurd? Besides, they had personally seen Li Wei transform!

After the three adults got down, the two children were carefully carried out. Just as Jackson was about to hurry his family toward the terminal to find airport staff, Li Wei slapped him on the chest. Jackson let out a scream like a woman who had seen a mouse.

"Ah~!"

"Come with me." Li Wei said only that before walking toward a certain part of the airport.

He had merely given them a reminder. Whether Jackson and the others followed or not was none of his concern. He had already learned the exact location of the large ship from Jackson; whether they came along afterward was irrelevant.

After that scream, Jackson fell into hesitation because of Li Wei's words.

Li Wei wanted their group to follow him... So, should they follow a walking mass of viruses?

He was not the only one who heard it. Seeing Jackson actually standing there and hesitating, Gordon immediately looked as though he had seen a ghost. "Seriously? Jackson, you want to follow a ticking time bomb? We should go to the terminal!"

Kate was also preparing to take her daughter and son away, but Jackson seemed to be struck awake, his mind suddenly springing into action.

Li Wei's miraculous abilities, the attitude he had displayed, and Jackson's limited understanding of the apocalypse all led him to make the right choice.

He reached out and grabbed Kate and Gordon's hands, urgently saying, "No, no, no! We're following Li Wei! Follow him!"

"Have you lost your mind?" Kate tilted her head as though she could not believe her ears. She had thought Jackson was crazy enough already, spending all day clutching a computer and muttering while typing away, but she had never expected him to want them to follow that strange alien!

Kate's expression was utterly ridiculous. Thankful that she had divorced Jackson earlier, she shook her head in disappointment and prepared to break free from his grip, taking Noah and Lily to the terminal.

The little boy Noah raised his head and suggested, "Why don't we follow Li Wei?"

But he was too young for anyone to listen to him.

Seeing that neither Kate nor Gordon agreed to follow Li Wei, and that Li Wei was already far away, Jackson hurriedly stopped them and explained, "Trust me! Staying with the majority is useless! Li Wei isn't hostile, and he wants to survive too. You saw it yourselves—he can help us. It's the end of the world now. Only a minority will survive. We need to stick with the minority, not the majority!

Don't expect politicians to save us. There's no time left. Trust me, trust Li Wei, and come with me! Please!"

Despite Jackson's earnest attempts to persuade them, Kate and Gordon remained hesitant. Jackson was so anxious he nearly wanted to slap Gordon. Then his eyes flicked toward weak, pitiful, helpless Lily, and an idea came to him.

He slapped away Kate's hand holding Lily's, bent down, snatched Lily up, and sprinted in the direction Li Wei had gone, leaving behind only one sentence: "Follow me!"

"Hey!" Gordon roared. With Lily already snatched away, they had no choice but to follow.

Kate was beside herself, but in the end, she chased after them too!

At the same time, alarms began sounding throughout the airport. The suffocatingly thick volcanic ash had already spread to the airport's perimeter, and the rolling smoke, like a curtain across the sky, would swallow them in just minutes.

Staying in a place like that would surely make it impossible to breathe!

When Jackson, carrying his daughter Lily with Gordon and Kate behind him, found Li Wei—

Li Wei was refueling an unattended large plane with a fuel truck. He had also just thrown a pile of luxury cars out from inside the plane.

Several other people stood beside the plane as well: a big fat man, a blond man and woman, and two chubby children.

They seemed to be gathered around Li Wei, who was sitting on the plane's landing gear, talking about something. When they saw Jackson's group arrive, they looked somewhat surprised.

"Dr. Silberman?" The blond woman holding a dog recognized Gordon and called out his surname in surprise.

Jackson, meanwhile, stared at the big fat man and called out his former boss's name. "Karpov Yuri?!"

Then, carrying Lily, he quickly ran toward his former superior—the bear-like, enormously fat former Soviet man, Karpov.

Jackson excitedly grabbed his shoulder with one hand and anxiously asked, "You knew all along, didn't you? You must have a way, right?"

Thud!

Before the impatient Karpov could say anything, the sound of something heavy hitting the ground startled them into jumping.

Li Wei's voice rang out from the maintenance ladder above them. "The plane is taking off. This flight has no insurance whatsoever. Whether it crashes depends entirely on luck. Passengers who wish to board, please prepare yourselves mentally~!"

With that, he jumped down from the fuel truck, shoved the several-ton vehicle aside, and entered the plane via the ladder.

Having witnessed Li Wei's power, Karpov's family ran onto the plane without the slightest hesitation. Jackson also carried Lily aboard.

Upon seeing the large plane and realizing what they had just done, Gordon and Kate boarded as well, feeling both awkward and relieved.

The volcanic ash behind them rolled closer like a giant beast devouring everything. If they had really gone to the terminal, they might have been left waiting to die.

Seeing the embarrassed yet relieved expressions on Kate and Gordon's faces after they boarded, Jackson felt utterly delighted. Divorce was never easy for anyone.

He had saved Kate with the wisdom of a writer she had once scorned. What could she possibly say now?

When Kate looked at him, Jackson smiled easily. Seeing the gratitude and apology in her expression, his exhilaration finally reached its peak.

Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river!

Gordon the rebound, get lost!

Li Wei entered the cockpit, and Karpov's bodyguard Sasha followed him in.

He was clearly a burly Russian man with a square face, yet he had a name that sounded rather feminine to Li Wei.

Li Wei naturally took the pilot's seat, while Sasha sat in the co-pilot's seat without hesitation.

"I'll help!"

The plane soon began moving. Once it entered the runway, Li Wei directly pushed the throttle and power to maximum, bringing the engines to full output.

Seeing this, Sasha exclaimed, "Th-this doesn't comply with the operating manual!"

Li Wei had learned his piloting skills from the memories of multiple pilots in his previous world. His flying ability was no worse than that of an experienced veteran captain, so how could he possibly follow an operating manual?

"Pfft~ That lousy book is for beginners. Shut up and watch me work." Li Wei waved a hand, switched on a bewildering array of instruments, and casually blocked the control tower's signal.

The plane's speed continued to rise. It finally managed to take off just as it left the runway. The landing gear retracted, and the large transport plane ultimately soared into the sky.

Sasha had done almost nothing. He simply watched Li Wei skillfully operate the transport plane into the air, clutching his head as he exclaimed, "Unbelievable!"

If he had been the one operating it, he would probably have needed to fumble around for a while before managing to take off. Compared to Li Wei's practiced skill, the flight training he had pursued in his spare time was far too lacking in practice.
