Background / History

The Azure Origin Sect has existed for more than ten thousand years. Founded by Qing Yuanzi, it endured periods of decline severe enough to force the sect to flee and relocate, before rising into its present position among the Five Great Sects. Its hidden senior generation includes multiple Nascent Soul cultivators, who generally emerge only during existential crises. 153 280

The sect recruits from mortal kingdoms every ten years, screening mortals for Spiritual Roots and cultivation talent. This supply of new disciples is treated as the sect's future foundation. During one recruitment expedition, demonic cultivators and an insider attacked the sect’s airship; roughly seventy or eighty recruits were reduced to only a dozen survivors. 2 13 14

The ambush exposed internal security problems, including a suspected traitor among the inner disciples connected to True Person Qing Xuan’s lineage. This distrust later developed into open political conflict, as Qing Xuan attempted to bend sect rules and clashed with Qin Ruge over his use of sect resources and influence. 14 153

Five Sects Grand Competition

Azure Origin Sect dominated the Qi Refining-stage Five Sects Grand Competition. Its disciples occupied all eight awarded places, while ninth and tenth were left vacant; Bai Lan became champion. The overwhelming result provoked resentment from the other major sects, which threatened to target Azure Origin Sect disciples in the subsequent Foundation Establishment-stage competition. 187 188

Conflict with the Joyous Union Sect

Relations with the Joyous Union Sect deteriorated after True Person Qing Xuan injured one of its disciples, prompting Elder Hong Ru to confront Sect Master Qing He directly at Righteous Peak. 60

The sect later faced repeated schemes linked to the Joyous Union Sect, including True Lord Yunyang’s attempt to sacrifice Azure Origin Sect disciples within the Two Forms Spirit Guiding Array. Old Ancestor Hanxu Zi intervened, exposing Yunyang and breaking the arrays around Coiled Dragon Canyon. 178

Righteous–Demonic War

During the struggle over the Joyous Union Sect’s former Spirit Veins, True Lord Yunyang attacked Azure Origin Sect cultivators and threatened to flatten the sect when war began. Azure Origin Sect suffered heavy casualties among its Foundation Establishment disciples, though its three allocated medium Spirit Veins remained intact. 251

The sect later entered full wartime preparation, recalling cultivators from external trials as demonic activity escalated. 418

Outer Realm Demonic Tribulations

The Azure Origin Sect was invaded through a spatial rift by Outer Realm Demonic Tribulations. Despite several Nascent Soul cultivators supporting its grand array, the sect’s defenses neared collapse under the fiends’ sustained assault. 574

Hanxu Zi trusted Bai Lan’s promise of reinforcements. A force led by Chi Yue and Li Yuanzhen arrived under the Spirit Taming Sect’s orders, fought the demonic fiends, and established a teleportation array at the rift to sever their continuous arrival. 574

• Bai Lan — A sect disciple who gained access to its libraries, became True Person Zi Ling’s disciple, and won the Five Sects Grand Competition for Azure Origin Sect.
