Background

Nan Xianshi entered the Azure Origin Sect alongside Bai Lan. Her Dual Spiritual Root gave her strong inner-sect potential, and she quickly aligned herself with Bai Lan through their shared dislike of Bai Ling, declaring that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” 14

She initially became a disciple of True Person Qing Xuan alongside Bai Ling. Her rivalry with Bai Ling was rooted in both status and affection: she wanted to surpass Bai Ling in cultivation and become Qing Xuan’s favored disciple. She publicly defended Bai Lan from Bai Ling’s followers, though she insisted she had merely acted to provoke Bai Ling. 17

Nan Xianshi left Jade Purity Peak after witnessing Qing Xuan embrace Bai Ling during sword practice. Though others described it as expulsion, she maintained that she had voluntarily left because Qing Xuan was no true master to her. She remained on the Azure Origin Sect’s inner-disciple roster, temporarily moving into outer-peak housing offered by Bai Lan. 31

Following a wager with Bai Lan, she sought out the Sect Master and successfully joined True Person Qing He’s lineage. Qing He later entrusted her with sword arts, gifted her a Magic Treasure sword, and treated her as a valued disciple. 41 159

Personality

Nan Xianshi is proud, talkative, impulsive, and openly tsundere. Bai Lan bluntly attributes her lack of popularity to her “princess temper,” while Nan Xianshi repeatedly denies acts of kindness even when she has clearly gone out of her way to help someone. 31 351

Her early jealousy of Bai Ling and resentment toward Qing Xuan shape many of her choices. However, Bai Lan’s advice causes her to place greater importance on cultivation, longevity, and surpassing Bai Ling through her own strength rather than through Qing Xuan’s approval. 17 34

Despite her sharp tongue, she is loyal and protective toward those she accepts as her own.
