Background

Cai Die originally suffered from amnesia after using the Snake People Clan’s Space Forbidden Technique to escape the royal palace. She awakened buried beneath sand, remembered nothing of her past, and was later captured by mercenaries before Ye Feng rescued her. 19

Initially known only as Die, she was gentle and kind-hearted, reluctant even to kill helpless enemies. Ye Feng withheld her past from her, explaining that her former identity had denied her even the right to possess a name; he then named her Cai Die after the Butterfly Sand Flower. 19

Her hidden strength surfaced when Ye Feng was injured and Yin Shi attempted to manipulate the situation. Cai Die erupted with Dou Huang-level power, killed Mo Lanzi and Mo Jizi, and confronted the Snake People commanders despite their belief in Yin Shi’s accusations. 28 29

The exertion of the Space Forbidden Technique and the release of her Dou Emperor strength left her soul severely weakened, eventually rendering her unconscious. Cai Die began as shy, delicate, and dependent on Ye Feng after losing her memories, but her devotion was never passive. She remained beside him in danger, calling him her “destiny after rebirth,” and repeatedly acted to protect him despite the risk to herself. 19 27

Her gentleness is strongest around Ye Feng and those she considers family. In contrast, threats to them draw out a fierce, uncompromising side: she killed Ye Feng’s attackers, faced Liu Ming despite knowing the difference in their strength, and protected Xiao Yi Xian and Zi Yan at the cost of exhausting herself. 28 375
