Just before the Holy War was about to end, Lu Xi, the captain of the Demon Hunter Squad she belonged to, died in an enemy sneak attack. The Demon Hunter Squad was disbanded as a result. After the Holy War ended, the other members went their separate ways and returned to their respective temples. Only Li Xin remained behind. She wanted to wait for Lin Xin's return.

For four years, she had remained at the Mage Temple to cultivate, keeping Lin Chen company and fulfilling filial duty in Lin Xin's stead. Lin Chen had tried to persuade Li Xin many times, but she continued doing what she always did and refused to leave.

Lin Chen dearly cherished this girl who should originally have been his granddaughter-in-law, but he could not be so selfish! Lin Xin had been missing for over four years. His last appearance had been at Myriad Beast Pass of the Soul Temple. After so long, having ventured deep into Devil Race territory to fight, their chances of survival were simply too low—far too low. No matter how unwilling Lin Chen was to admit it, he did not want to delay Li Xin's future!

"Grandpa Lin, please stop. I won't leave. I'll wait for him, and for Haochen too. They will definitely return." Tears shimmered faintly in Li Xin's eyes. No matter how strong she was, there was still a fragile side to her heart.
