Background and History
Dragon served as a Marine vice admiral and instructor at the training camp. He trained recruits to push beyond their physical limits and discussed the meaning of Justice with Longinus, whose belief that Justice should make the world steadily better impressed him 60 67. Dragon was Garp’s son, though he warned Longinus that Zephyr would be a more reliable teacher than his father 60.
Dragon later killed the king of Atlant and a visiting Celestial Dragon, becoming a fugitive 116 207. After leaving the Marines, he traveled widely and concluded that the World Government’s order drove many people into piracy. He resolved to overthrow it and establish a new order as leader of the Revolutionary Army 207.
Appearance

Personality
Reserved and often blunt, Dragon speaks sparingly but takes his students’ growth seriously 60 67 71. His revolutionary convictions are firm, yet Longinus’s questions about what should follow a successful revolution force him to consider the need for principles and a workable new order 207 208.
Dragon makes calculated decisions under pressure. He prioritizes escape when a rescue at Impel Down becomes untenable, and later refuses an immediate assault on Mary Geoise after sensing Longinus’s return 475 631. He also restrains his attacks when his own soldiers are nearby 594.
