The Millennium Arrives

After Christmas, the 1999 Golden Globe Awards nominations were announced. DreamWorks' American Beauty and Crescent Moon Pictures' Shakespeare in Love led the nominations;

Dawn's The Talented Mr. Ripley and Toy Story 2 also received quite a few nominations.

Nicole Kidman had naturally gone to Los Angeles to fight for her career, while Aaron remained in New York to discuss the establishment of the CBS Business Channel with Harold McGraw III, chairman and CEO of McGraw-Hill.

McGraw-Hill operated numerous globally renowned industry brands:

Standard & Poor's, an SEC-recognized "nationally recognized rating organization";

McGraw-Hill Education, a provider of educational services and teaching materials covering everything from elementary school and middle school to university and lifelong professional learning across the United States;

J.D. Power Business Consulting, a global market consulting firm that conducted independent and impartial research into customer satisfaction, product quality, consumer behavior, and more;

Along with a series of information magazine publishing operations, including BusinessWeek, Platts, McGraw-Hill Construction Information, and Aviation Week.

The main terms of Aaron and Harold McGraw III's negotiations were that both sides would invest 200 million US dollars each to establish the CBS Business Channel;

McGraw-Hill would be responsible for gathering content, while Dawn would handle the station's operations and management. Each company would hold a 50 percent stake.

Harold McGraw III was clearly very interested in the proposal and quite willing to make it happen!

Naturally, the remaining matters were left to CBS president Mel Kamins to discuss and prepare with McGraw-Hill...

As New Year's Eve arrived, being the final night before the millennium, New York's Times Square celebration was especially grand;

There were fireworks, a crystal ball countdown, and more than two million people participating in New York's New Year's celebration!
