Background / History
Jack began as an aspiring talent agent associated with CAA. Aaron Anderson helped him enter the profession by directing work from Steven Soderbergh to him, and Jack later became an assistant agent for Tony Scott and an official agent for Kevin Costner. Despite his persistence, Aaron considered Jack's judgment of performers and career planning only average. 6 41 56
Jack left CAA after working as Costner's assistant and driver. Aaron instead partnered with him to purchase and renovate the Blues Brothers Theater, later renamed the Angel Theater; Jack was placed in charge of its operations while planning a future security business. 48 70 75
While protecting the production of Boyz n the Hood, Jack dealt with gang extortion through John Levin. He and Levin invaded Loel's apartment, killed Loel and two associates, stole valuables, and left Crips identifiers to frame the crime as gang violence. Afterward, Jack treated the film's on-set security as a personal responsibility. 67 68
Jack subsequently established Angel Security Company, later referred to as Angel International. Its early business covered celebrity protection, guards, cleaners, private investigators, and arms-dealer contacts. The company expanded into training grounds, political and military connections, overseas offices, and mercenary work in Africa and the Middle East. 141 189 381 436
By the mid-1990s, Jack had become Aaron's representative in Texas and with the Houston Rockets, helped cultivate support for George W. Bush, and accumulated tens of millions of dollars through Dawn shares and investments in Angel International, real estate, and other ventures. 234 253 387
Personality
Jack is intensely loyal to Aaron and consistently treats Aaron's interests as his own. He readily handles difficult or illicit tasks, from gathering intelligence to arranging intimidation, and credits Aaron with making his wealth possible. 304 381
He is impulsive, violent, and prone to viewing force as an efficient solution. Jack repeatedly suggests assaults, personally participates in attacks, and uses Angel International's personnel and contacts for retaliation. 41 78 268 685
Jack is also practical and commercially ambitious. Although initially swindled in a penny-stock scheme, he develops security, political, real-estate, arms, and sports interests while remaining skeptical of financial investments he does not understand. 78 161 387 595
