"Followers of the Abyss?"
Riezel narrowed his eyes.
It was not as though he knew nothing about those cancers of the world.
They had caused major incidents throughout every era of Source's history. The harm they inflicted upon Source was second only to invasions by the Abyss itself, and at times even exceeded the damage caused by small-scale Abyss invasions. Every living race in this world loathed them to the bone.
Everyone knew that compared to invaders, traitors were sometimes even more hateful.
Thus, the hatred the various races and factions held for these Abyss Believers often surpassed even their hatred for the Abyss.
Throughout history, these evil believers had appeared in many of the Abyss's invasions. Some invasions had even been orchestrated entirely by the Abyss Believers themselves.
For instance, two thousand years ago, there was a nation in the north of the Source World where the Abyss Believers held a Blood Sacrifice Ritual. Not only were the entire nation's people sacrificed to become food for Abyss monsters, but a rift leading to the Abyss was opened there as well, triggering a massive Abyss invasion.
During that invasion, several northern nations lost portions of their territory, while others were forced to relocate. Their people were driven from their homes and had no choice but to leave their homeland behind.
The casualties numbered far more than hundreds of thousands, or even millions.
Such incidents had occurred many times throughout history. How could the major powers and races of the Great Source World not hate the Abyss Believers to the bone?
And given their faith in the Abyss, once they learned that the Savior had descended once more, they would surely do everything in their power to notify the Abyss and organize one fearless assassination attempt after another against him.
