This was the central city of the Sendai Metropolitan Area, outside the three major metropolitan areas.
Located between the Nanakita River and Hirose River, near Sendai Bay, it was the largest economic and cultural center in the Tohoku Region and the capital of Miyagi Prefecture.
Sendai lay roughly three hundred kilometers north of Tokyo, facing the Pacific Ocean. It was not particularly far from Tokyo.
At least, for the people living here, the massive disaster that had occurred in Tokyo—a city that had already become an Unnatural Realm—was practically like something happening next door. It was enough to leave the local residents deeply unsettled, even prompting thoughts of leaving this place and getting far away from Tokyo.
And those thoughts had only grown stronger because of a strange phenomenon that had recently appeared in Sendai.
"Is that the Sendai Barrier up ahead?"
Riezel, disguised as Erik Mozart, silently appeared here. Looking ahead, he muttered to himself.
At that moment, he stood on a bustling, noisy road.
Vehicles were parked everywhere along the road, yet not a single one honked. They simply remained there, completely unwilling to move forward.
The road was also crowded with people. Some wore clothes for going out, some were in loungewear, and some even looked disheveled, barely clothed.
Yet none of them cared about how they looked at that moment. They just kept shouting and causing a commotion, rather like a crowd gathered in a shelter, with panic hanging thickly in the air.
Amid such a crowd, Riezel raised his eyes and looked at the scene ahead.
At some distance away, a black curtain cut across the road. It stood there like a wall of heaven, severing the buildings around the road as well.
