In the Chaos Void, the three of them found an exceedingly remote place.
It was a dead starfield. Even the turbulent currents of chaos seemed spent, and only the occasional shattered meteor drifted past.
Cangxuan could sense not a trace of life there through the Wood Element Great Dao.
"This should be safe enough," he said, weariness in his voice.
"Safe, sure. But it's fucking barren." Hongchu looked around in disgust.
Zhou Ming said nothing. His Divine Sense swept the area and settled on a dark red Star Core ahead, roughly one-tenth the size of an ordinary world.
The Star Core had burned out long ago. Its interior was hollow, and a thick shell of cooled rock surrounded it, giving off an air of death.
He flashed to its surface and threw a punch.
His dark-gold fist struck the shell. The impossibly hard rock silently disintegrated, leaving an opening just wide enough for one person.
Zhou Ming went in first.
Hongchu and Cangxuan exchanged a glance, then followed him.
With a few formations to conceal their presence, Zhou Ming sealed the Star Core's interior completely off from the chaos outside.
"All right. Tell us."
The moment they settled in, Hongchu turned eagerly to Zhou Ming. Curiosity filled his lightning-flecked eyes.
"What's the shortcut?"
He was asking, of course, how Zhou Ming had recovered his strength so quickly.
Cangxuan looked at Zhou Ming too. He was less impatient than Hongchu, but no less eager for an answer.
The question had been troubling him as well.
All three of them had come from True Saint Yuan Chu's Inner World. By rights, its rules should have suppressed them equally.
Yet he and Cangxuan had spent ten million years hiding and struggling to adapt, only to wash away barely forty percent of their World
