Ch. 21The Second Sermon

Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Witches attended Hongjun’s second sermon, which taught the path to Quasi-Sainthood and how to Slay Three Corpses. After Hongjun answered questions about using Innate Spiritual Treasures, Di Jun asked whether Slaying Three Corpses was the only path to becoming a Sage.

Nearly ten thousand years after Hongjun’s sermon, Wu Ming explained that the Primordial World’s rising baleful intent threatened the Wu Clan but also offered a chance to gain Heaven and Earth’s recognition. He persuaded the Twelve Ancestral Wu to formally establish the Wu Clan at Buzhou Mountain in one hundred years, pledging to cleanse baleful intent and restore the world’s earth veins.

  • After the sermon, Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu returned to Buzhou Mountain while the other powers departed.

Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu formally established the Wu Clan by swearing to refine baleful aura, order the earth veins, and protect the Primordial World, earning vast merit from the Heavenly Dao. As other powers reacted and Di Jun moved to organize the Demon Race, Wu Ming ordered the Wu Clan to leave Buzhou and begin their work.

  • Wu Ming led the Twelve Ancestral Wu and hundreds of millions of warriors in an oath establishing the Wu Clan and pledging to protect the Primordial World.
  • The Great Dao recognized the oath, Pangu's lingering will appeared, and merit descended on Wu Ming, the Twelve Ancestral Wu, and the assembled warriors.

Zhen Yuanzi and Hong Yun visited Wu Ming to discuss the Wu Clan’s vows, the ambitions of Di Jun and Taiyi, and the paths to Proving Dao. Wu Ming asked Hong Yun to notify him about a coming Heaven-ordained opportunity near Buzhou Mountain, then the three began discussing the Dao.

Ch. 26Nuwa, Fuxi Enter the Demon Race

Di Jun and Taiyi visited Nuwa and Fuxi to recruit them into a new Demon Race that could rival the Wu Clan. Nuwa and Fuxi agreed to join, and the four set a ceremony for a thousand years later at the Heavenly Court.

  • Di Jun and Taiyi warned Nuwa and Fuxi that the Wu Clan’s growing power threatened the other beings of the Primordial Land.
  • Di Jun proposed uniting the myriad spirits as the Demon Race and offered Nuwa and Fuxi the titles of Empress Wa and Emperor Xi.
  • After Fuxi considered the risks and opportunities, Nuwa agreed that she and her brother would join the Demon Race.
  • Di Jun revealed that he and Taiyi had found the Heavenly Court in the Thirty-Third Heaven and would use it as the Demon Race’s foundation.

Ch. 27The Demon Race Stands

Di Jun and Taiyi established the Demon Clan in the Heavenly Court and received more merit than the Wu Clan, strengthening the Heavenly Dao’s support for a conflict between the two clans. At the banquet, Wu Ming rejected Taiyi’s suggestion that the clans jointly govern the Primordial Land, leaving tensions unresolved.

  • The Twelve Ancestral Witches and Wu Ming arrived at the Heavenly Court alongside other Great Powers to witness the Demon Clan’s establishment ceremony.
  • Di Jun proclaimed the Demon Clan’s purpose of governing all living beings, establishing order, and ruling from the Heavenly Court, and the Heavenly Dao granted its leaders and followers a vast amount of merit.

Ch. 28Our Wu Clan Will Never Seek Hegemony

Wu Ming led the Twelve Ancestral Witches away from the Heavenly Court and urged them to avoid a premature clash with the Demon Race. He persuaded them to focus on accumulating Merit and pursuing Proving Dao with Laws, leaving the Wu Clan’s future struggle for supremacy unresolved.

  • Di Jun agreed to keep the Demon Race and Wu Clan apart for now, then ordered Taiyi to reorganize the Heavenly Court and spread the Demon Race’s influence across the stars.
  • Zhu Rong and Gong Gong complained that the Demon Race had received more Merit, but Wu Ming told the Ancestral Witches to fulfill their oath and strengthen the Wu Clan instead of fighting Taiyi.
  • Wu Ming noted that East King Duke was gathering immortals over the Eastern Sea and could become another opponent for the Demon Race.

Ch. 29The Quasi-Saint Era Arrives

East King established the Immortal Court, but received little Heavenly Dao Merit and became a laughingstock. The pressure to advance drove the Primordial Wilderness’s Great Powers into Seclusion, and after a thousand years many became Quasi-Saints, including Di Jiang, Zhu Jiuyin, and Houtu.

  • East King founded the Immortal Court on Penglai after West Queen Mother refused to join him, but the ceremony brought scant Merit and left him humiliated.
  • The Immortal Court’s failure spurred Grand Unity Golden Immortal Great Powers across the Primordial Wilderness to pursue Slaying Three Corpses and enter Seclusion.
  • After a thousand years, the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, Zhunti, Di Jun, Taiyi, Nuwa, Fuxi, Zhen Yuanzi, and Ancestor Minghe became Quasi-Saints.
  • At Pangu Hall, Di Jiang and Zhu Jiuyin broke through to the Quasi-Saint realm, and Houtu advanced alongside them.
  • Wu Ming praised the three Ancestral Wu and urged the others to cultivate diligently and seek breakthroughs.

Ch. 30Hong Yun's Opportunity Arrives

Hong Yun sensed the opportunity Wu Ming had foretold at Buzhou Mountain and brought Wu Ming and Zhen Yuanzi to investigate. There, they joined the Three Pure Ones, Nuwa, Di Jun, and Taiyi as an array opened to reveal the Innate Gourd Vine and its seven gourds.

  • While drinking tea with Zhen Yuanzi, Hong Yun sensed an opportunity tied to him near Buzhou Mountain and recalled Wu Ming's warning.
  • Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi hurried to Pangu Hall, where Wu Ming explained that an Innate Spiritual Root bearing gourds held something important for the Wu Clan.
  • Wu Ming left Di Jiang, Zhu Jiuyin, and Houtu to manage the clan's affairs, then traveled with Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi to the valley on Buzhou Mountain.
  • At the valley, Wu Ming's group encountered Laozi, Primordial Lord Tianzun, Tongtian, and Nuwa, followed by Di Jun and Taiyi.
  • The array's mist dispersed, revealing the Innate Gourd Vine bearing seven gourds.

Ch. 31The Innate Gourd Vine is Born

The Great Powers claimed six mature gourds from the Innate Gourd Vine, leaving Wu Ming to claim the unripe blue gourd and the vine itself. After Taiyi challenged his right to take them, Wu Ming argued him into silence, then took the vine and departed for Buzhou Mountain.

  • Laozi, Yuanshi Tianzun, Tongtian Sect Master, Nuwa, Patriarch Hong Yun, and Taiyi each claimed one of the six mature gourds.
  • Wu Ming announced that the Wu Clan would take the remaining unripe blue gourd and the Innate Gourd Vine, and the others tacitly agreed.
  • Taiyi challenged Wu Ming's claim, but Wu Ming offered to trade the vine and blue gourd for Taiyi's yellow gourd, then argued that Taiyi's refusal showed the leftovers were worth less.
  • Di Jun pulled Taiyi back and accepted that Wu Ming could take the vine and blue gourd.
  • Wu Ming gathered the blue gourd and the entire vine, then exchanged farewells with Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi after the others departed.
  • Wu Ming left the empty valley and flew toward Buzhou Mountain.

Ch. 32Third Sermon, Taking Disciples

After years of seclusion and the Wu Clan’s work to fulfill its oath, Wu Ming led the Twelve Ancestral Witches to the Purple Firmament Palace for Hongjun’s final sermon. Hongjun explained the Way of Sages, took the Three Pure Ones and Nuwa as disciples, and then granted Jieyin and Zhunti registered discipleship and Hongmeng Purple Qi after their plea.

  • Wu Ming emerged from Pangu Hall with the Twelve Ancestral Witches and traveled to the Purple Firmament Palace for the Third Sermon.
  • Hongjun delivered his final sermon, explaining the Way of Sages to the gathered Great Powers.
  • Hongjun accepted Taiqing, Yuanshi, Tongtian, and Nuwa as disciples and bestowed a strand of Hongmeng Purple Qi on each.

Ch. 33Hongjun Joins the Dao

Hongjun bestowed the final strand of Hongmeng Purple Qi on Patriarch Hong Yun, inflaming Kunpeng’s hatred, then gave treasures to his disciples and directed the other Great Powers to Treasure-Separating Rock. He announced that he would merge with the Dao and disappear until a heaven-and-earth Tribulation.

  • Hongjun rejected the crowd’s pleas for discipleship and sent the final strand of Hongmeng Purple Qi to Patriarch Hong Yun.
  • Kunpeng blamed Hong Yun for taking both the Cushion and the Purple Qi and swore not to rest until one of them was dead.
  • Hongjun gave the Taiji Diagram to Laozi, the Pangu Banner to Primordial Lord Tianzun, the Four Swords of Zhu Xian and its Array Diagram to Tongtian, and three treasures to Nuwa.
  • Hongjun gave Jieyin and Zhunti the Twelve-Grade Golden Lotus of Merit, the Green Lotus Treasure Banner, and the Amulet Staff.
  • Hongjun told the other Great Powers to claim treasures from Treasure-Separating Rock, then announced that he would merge with the Dao and would not appear until a heaven-and-earth Tribulation.
  • Hongjun vanished from Purple Heaven Palace as its gates opened.

Ch. 34Trading for the Sea Calming Divine Beads

After Hongjun’s lecture, Wu Ming led the Ancestral Witches to the Treasure Distribution Rock, where he obtained the cliff itself and traded a Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Treasure with Tongtian for the Sea Calming Divine Beads. The Wu Clan returned toward Buzhou Mountain, while Hong Yun was left to decide whether to seek Wu Ming’s help.

  • Wu Ming sent Di Jiang ahead to find the twenty-four Sea Calming Divine Beads, but Di Jiang found the Treasure Distribution Rock nearly bare.
  • The Three Pure Ones, Nuwa, Jieyin, and Zhunti collected many treasures, while Wu Ming and Houtu each obtained one Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Treasure.
  • Wu Ming uprooted the Treasure Distribution Rock and stored it, stunning the assembled Great Powers.

Ch. 35Kunpeng Enters the Heavenly Court

After losing the Hongmeng Purple Qi to Hong Yun, Kunpeng went to the Demon Race's Heavenly Court and offered his allegiance to Di Jun and Taiyi. Di Jun accepted him as Demon Master, while Kunpeng and the Heavenly Court both intended to use the alliance to pursue their own goals against Hong Yun.

  • Furious over losing his seat and the Hongmeng Purple Qi, Kunpeng decided to enlist Di Jun and Taiyi to help him take revenge on Hong Yun.
  • Kunpeng entered the Heavenly Court and declared his willingness to serve the Demon Race, despite Taiyi's suspicion of his motives.
  • Di Jun recognized that Kunpeng wanted the Heavenly Court to act against Hong Yun, but saw an opportunity to target Hong Yun and potentially confront the Wu Clan.
  • Di Jun welcomed Kunpeng and appointed him Demon Master, placing him among the Heavenly Court's highest-ranking figures.
  • Kunpeng accepted the title and privately resolved to use Di Jun and Taiyi to reclaim what he believed Hong Yun had taken from him.

Ch. 36Hong Yun's Choice

At Wuzhuang Temple, Hong Yun struggled over whether to give up the Hongmeng Purple Qi to settle his karmic conflict with Kunpeng. He decided to honor his promise and set out with Zhen Yuanzi to find Wu Ming.

  • Hong Yun weighed the Saint-making opportunity against his grudge with Kunpeng and his promise to Wu Ming.
  • Hong Yun resolved to give Kunpeng the Hongmeng Purple Qi so he could settle the Karma and preserve his integrity.
  • Zhen Yuanzi warned that Kunpeng might not accept the gesture or spare Hong Yun, but Hong Yun said he wanted peace of mind regardless.
  • Zhen Yuanzi agreed to accompany Hong Yun, and they flew toward Buzhou Mountain to find Wu Ming.

Ch. 37Hong Yun: Kunpeng, come out quickly, I've come to give you Hongmeng Purple Qi

Hong Yun decided to give Kunpeng his Hongmeng Purple Qi to settle the karma between them, and Wu Ming and Zhen Yuanzi accompanied him to the Demon Race's Heavenly Court. Kunpeng accused Hong Yun of ruining his path to sainthood, and the chapter ended with Hong Yun offering him the Purple Qi.

  • Hong Yun told Wu Ming and Zhen Yuanzi that he had decided to give Kunpeng the Hongmeng Purple Qi and settle their karmic debt.
  • Wu Ming led Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi toward the Heavenly Court and told them Kunpeng had become the Demon Race's Demon Master.
  • At the Southern Heavenly Gate, Hong Yun called for Kunpeng, who flew into a rage and demanded Di Jun and Taiyi help him capture Hong Yun.

Ch. 38Hong Yun, You're Playing Me

Hong Yun tried to give Kunpeng the Hongmeng Purple Qi, but could not extract it, convincing Kunpeng that he was being mocked. Wu Ming proposed that Hong Yun make a solemn oath to enlist the Heavenly Dao’s aid, and Kunpeng demanded that he swear.

  • Hong Yun told Kunpeng he would give him the Hongmeng Purple Qi, but failed to draw it out despite trying.
  • Kunpeng accused Hong Yun of humiliating him and appealed to Di Jun and Taiyi, who threatened Hong Yun and demanded the purple qi.
  • Zhen Yuanzi and Wu Ming intervened, and Hong Yun explained that he sincerely wanted to give the purple qi but could not extract it.
  • Wu Ming proposed a Great Dao Oath, and Zhen Yuanzi explained that the oath could let the Heavenly Dao help release the purple qi.
  • Kunpeng agreed to let Hong Yun swear and warned that he would kill him if he lied.

Ch. 39Kunpeng: I was too hasty, I shouldn't have joined the Heavenly Court so early

Hong Yun gave Kunpeng the Hongmeng Purple Qi after swearing an oath that settled their past grudge. Kunpeng fled to the North Sea to escape Di Jun and Taiyi, but Di Jun believed the Demon Race’s fortune would prevent him from escaping for good.

  • Hong Yun swore before the Great Dao, Pangu Will, and Heavenly Dao to give Kunpeng the Hongmeng Purple Qi and settle their karma.
  • Kunpeng accepted the Hongmeng Purple Qi, and Hong Yun departed for Buzhou Mountain with Wu Ming and Zhen Yuanzi.
  • Di Jun congratulated Kunpeng on obtaining the foundation for becoming a Sage, while Taiyi’s aura intimidated him.
  • Kunpeng made an excuse about urgent business in the North Sea and fled toward it at great speed.
  • Taiyi questioned why Di Jun let Kunpeng leave, but Di Jun said Kunpeng could not escape the Demon Race’s fortune.

Ch. 40The Boiling Primordial Wilderness

Hong Yun gave the Hongmeng Purple Qi to Kunpeng, stirring turmoil across the Primordial Wilderness, while he found relief from the burden of pursuing Sainthood. At Pangu Hall, Wu Ming told Zhen Yuanzi he needed his help with a matter of great importance.

  • The Three Pure Ones, Nuwa and Fuxi, Jieyin and Zhunti, Minghe, and East King Duke reacted to Hong Yun giving the Hongmeng Purple Qi to Kunpeng, debating the consequences and Kunpeng’s danger in the Demon Court.
  • At Pangu Hall, Hong Yun thanked Wu Ming and Zhen Yuanzi for helping him resolve his karmic debt with Kunpeng and admitted he felt relieved despite losing his chance at a Saint Position.
  • Wu Ming and Zhen Yuanzi warned that Di Jun and Taiyi would not let Kunpeng refine the Hongmeng Purple Qi without interference.
  • After the three cultivators talked about their cultivation, Wu Ming solemnly asked Zhen Yuanzi for help with a matter he said could be entrusted to no one else.
