Lin Qiye stood before a public telephone as a Crimson Eye Black Pupil silently opened in his palm, its gaze fixed on the phone's surface as a faint glimmer flickered.
Within its field of vision, everything around him rapidly rewound. The sequence in which the phone buttons had been pressed reappeared, and after tracing back roughly two sets of numbers, the number once dialed by The Whisperer appeared in Black Pupil's eye.
After the receiver was put down, a trail of footprints left the phone booth and stretched toward the other side of the road.
"Yes." Black Pupil's voice sounded beside Lin Qiye's ear. "I found his trail."
Guided by Black Pupil, Lin Qiye turned into a streak of night and darted through the streets at top speed. There was not much time left before the great disaster erupted; he had to give it everything he had.
Fortunately, the sky was gradually darkening. The dim yellow sunlight fell upon the streets, stretching the shadows of buildings and pedestrians. Even as that streak of night raced wildly through the city, few people noticed anything unusual.
