In the tavern, Huo Qubing, who had been lowering his head to eat, suddenly paused. He looked toward the city gate, confusion rising in his eyes.

The deputy general climbed in through the top of the tavern, his armor covered in blood.
"This is strange... There were clearly more than thirty of them before. How did we kill them all so quickly?" The scholar in Confucian robes entered right after him, looking as if he had seen a ghost. Then he turned to the deputy general. "Hey, how many did you kill?"
"Thirteen."
"I killed thirteen too... Then where did the remaining Evil Spirits go?"
As the two puzzled over it, Huo Qubing set down his chopsticks, gazed into the distance, and muttered to himself:
"I was only passing through Xue County. I didn't expect to find an unexpected prize as well..."
"You're one of that man's people too?"
Before the city gate, the female prisoner stood with disheveled hair, frowning at Lin Qiye. A moment later, as if she had realized something,
