Before long, an instructor walked out from behind the gate and gave him two surprised looks.
"New recruit?"
"Yes."
"Name?"
"Lin Qiye."
The instructor's body trembled as he carefully examined Lin Qiye, as though he were looking at some rare treasure.
"You... are Lin Qiye?"
Lin Qiye felt a little uneasy under his gaze. "That's me. Is there a problem?"
"No." The instructor shook his head and opened the gates to the Training Camp. "You're the first one to arrive this year. Come in.
Oh, right. My name is Hong Hao. I'll be your instructor."
"Hello, Instructor Hong." Lin Qiye politely said as he walked into the Training Camp.
Instructor Hong nodded. "Kid, you came early, so you're in luck. I'll personally show you around the Training Camp this time."
Instructor Hong led Lin Qiye around the empty Training Camp.
The inside of the Training Camp was far larger than Lin Qiye had imagined. Its buildings were not temporary tents or prefab structures; they were all solidified from some unknown material. The buildings met the ground with extraordinary smoothness, as though they had grown straight out of the earth.
The ground was also divided into neat sections by lines—where people walked, where vehicles drove, and even markings for locations such as the cafeteria and dormitories... The varying thicknesses and colors of the lines were incredibly pleasing to look at, practically a blessing for anyone with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
If Lin Qiye had not known that this place had once been wasteland, he would have assumed it was a newly completed base that had taken years to build.
Military trucks sped along the roads, loaded with crates of supplies and equipment: food, water, weapons, bedding... Lin Qiye even saw one truck packed full of explosive charges!
