99 stared at the ceiling, utterly despairing.
The abnormalities in her body, the various pains coming from every organ and part of her body each day, and the robot that appeared three times a day were all shattering her established understanding of the world.
What kind of world had she come to? The equipment, the arrangements here, and that robot all told her this was different from her own world.
That robot was highly capable and had all sorts of tools on its body. It had eight hands—99 had seen that with her own eyes. The other six hands were usually folded away and only deployed when it worked.
And there was that beautiful woman who had been observing her. The robot conversed with her perfectly normally. Although 99 could not understand what they were saying, it was probably all about her.
What frightened her even more was the conversation between that terrifyingly fierce robot and the owner of the laboratory. They were speaking a language she did not know.
Furthermore, the robot could think for itself. All of this was beyond her comprehension.
She found that every day brought something new that overturned her understanding.
She was scared out of her wits and did not dare move or look around carelessly anymore. Every day, she ate and slept, then slept and ate. If they discovered something abnormal about her, would the robot throw her out?
The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became. She wanted to go back. She did not want to be reborn anymore. Death would have settled everything once and for all—why the hell had she been thrown into such a terrifying place?!
In her current state, she could not die. As for living, she did not know how long she could keep struggling on. She had never felt so exhausted before.
But her ancestors had once said something profoundly wise—better to live poorly than die well.
In the end, she decided to stop thinking about it. She was already here; what else could she do? She would survive first and worry about the rest later.

Those with physical ability 2A and Mental Power above S could work in education after passing the Alliance's educational examinations, taking responsibility for the education of children under sixteen.
These two types of people were protected. War would not reach them, because people stronger than them guarded the front lines.
Those with physical ability above 2A and Mental Power at 2S or above would, barring accidents, all be conscripted into the military. In the specialized medical and pharmaceutical fields, one needed physical ability of 3A and Mental Power of 2S in order to adapt to the high intensity of various experiments and studies.
If Mental Power could not improve before the age of sixteen, miracles would basically never happen afterward. Physical ability, however, was not restricted in this way.
Without exception, those who shouldered the responsibility of the entire Alliance possessed outstanding talent.
Subjects 96 through 98 were already far better than the previously cultivated Subject 94 group. The Ye Family's genes were indeed powerful.
After seeing the results, Wei Lanshan returned to her Western District. She did not enter the laboratory, remaining outside it.
