Background

Yu Xiaogang encountered Li Qing and Tang San at Nuoding Academy’s gates, where he identified both boys as possessors of Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power. He accepted them as disciples, seeing an opportunity to validate his martial soul theories through their exceptional potential. At the time, his own cultivation had reportedly remained stuck at level twenty-nine. 44

As their teacher, Master led Li Qing and Tang San into the Soul Hunting Forest to obtain their spirit rings. He supplied them with short swords, directed their response to a Mandala Snake, and helped them defeat a Great Saber Mantis for Li Qing’s first ring. 94 178

Li Qing’s unusual development repeatedly challenged Master’s existing research: the Eye Martial Soul had no record in his books, Li Qing’s Spirit Bone was mysterious, and his first soul ring later increased from three hundred to four hundred years. Master is intensely absorbed in martial soul research, to the point of forgetting meals while consulting his books. He is willing to admit when his theories are incomplete, particularly after witnessing Li Qing’s abnormal martial soul, Spirit Bone, and ring developments. 10

He is protective and cautious toward his disciples. He refused to let a level-nineteen Li Qing hunt a thousand-year Spirit Beast alone, citing both the danger of the Soul Hunting Forest and the accepted two-hundred-and-fifty-year limit for a second spirit ring. 2

His guidance extends beyond combat. After witnessing Li Qing and Tang San’s Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Red Storm, he warned them not to lose their humanity to power. 55
