Demon City Army Headquarters.
Huang Xuange received word of Zhou Leng's return at once. He spent over twenty minutes hastily wrapping up the matters at hand, opened the Demon Brain Wuxin, and stared at Zhou Leng's chat window, weighing every word carefully.
He couldn't seem too happy. He was still in the Upper Demigod Realm; he had to maintain some dignity.
He couldn't be too cold, either. After all, Zhou Leng was a meritorious hero of the Humans.
His words couldn't sound too pleasant. Kids were liable to get cocky and let their tails stick up.
But they couldn't sound too harsh, either. That could easily dampen the kid's enthusiasm.
Huang Xuange had just finished composing himself and was about to start typing when an urgent message arrived.
He opened it.
Zhou Leng had appeared as the last person on the fourth level of the God-Ascension Stairway, becoming a Sixth Heaven completer.
"Hmm?"
Huang Xuange looked up. At the far end of the sky, atop the Heavenly Stairway, on the fourth level, he looked toward the final figure.
It wasn't Zhou Leng.
Huang Xuange frowned. How could someone be cracking jokes through a top-secret channel?
Which young master or young miss had gotten high out of their mind?
But in the next instant, his gaze swept rapidly sideways, passing over the densely packed Demigod phantoms on the Heavenly Stairway.
His gaze stopped.
At the very end of the Sixth Heaven completers, there truly was no Zhou Leng.
There wasn't one at the end of the Seventh Heaven completers, either.
Zhou Leng was first among the Seventh Heaven completers.
Though Huang Xuange was young among Martial Saints, he was still over fifty. He had weathered countless storms and waves in his life.
Yet at this moment, his gaze was utterly disordered.
