The scene shifted, and Senga was already at Zephyr's office door, raising a hand to knock.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Come in."
Zephyr's tone was normal, with no hint of anger.
Senga walked in slowly, gave a simple salute, then plopped down onto a sofa, sprawling out as he waited for Zephyr to speak.
Over the past two months, under Zephyr's focused attention, Senga had gotten quite familiar with him. Though Senga's behavior might seem rude, he actually held Zephyr in high regard, and Zephyr was very fond of this disciple of his.
Zephyr shot him a look, finding it a little amusing—this Senga acted as if he hadn't just been brawling in the mess hall moments ago.
Setting aside the work he was busy with, Zephyr rubbed his temples, looked up at Senga, and asked casually, "Any takeaways from today's fight with Smoker?"
If any other trainees saw Zephyr like this, their jaws would drop. Who would expect the always stern and rigid instructor Zephyr to be so laid-back?
And on top of that, Uchiha Senga had been fighting in public! A one-sided beating, no less! Instead of punishing him harshly, he was asking how it felt?
Well, favoritism meant Senga could act with impunity.
Senga put on a thoughtful expression, mulled it over for a moment, then said, "Biggest takeaway is that dealing with a Logia's elementalization is a real pain."
Zephyr nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. This was exactly why he'd called Senga over.
He was going to give Senga some extra training!
The Marine training camp's curriculum was gradual. Even though two months had passed, many trainees still couldn't even master one of the Six Powers.
Transitioning to Haki instruction usually didn't happen until the end of the second year.
Zephyr often found time to check Senga's progress with the Six Powers and knew he'd already mastered them thoroughly—more so than some graduates who'd become flag officers.
Letting him follow the normal pace with the other trainees would be a waste of Senga's time, and even a waste of the Marines' time!
So Zephyr felt his extra lessons were only right, the best choice—in short, for justice!
"Good. Do you know the most effective way to deal with a Logia?" Zephyr set the stage a little.
"Yeah, I do. It's Armament Haki, right? Smoker mentioned it during the fight." Senga gave the correct answer directly.
"Uh, yes, good. I called you here today to teach you the method for training Haki!"
Since Senga already knew about Armament Haki, Zephyr didn't beat around the bush and got straight to the point.
"Follow me to the wasteland out back. I'll demonstrate Haki for you." With that, Zephyr stood up and motioned for Senga to come along.
Once they reached a large stretch of barren land behind the training camp, Zephyr found a slightly open area, then abruptly shrugged off the Justice Coat draped over his shoulders.
Whoosh! The Justice Coat flew away on the wind, landing on a jutting boulder.
What a show-off! Senga discreetly curled his lip, but inside he felt a twinge of envy.
Whether it was the Fourth Hokage in his God Robe in Naruto or a Marine Admiral flinging off a Justice Coat in One Piece, it could only be described in one word: cool (or showy)!
"Once I graduate, I'm definitely getting one of those to toss around for fun!"
Alright, Senga was just jealous, but he'd never admit it.
On the other side, Zephyr had no idea Senga had just silently mocked him. He tugged at his collar and held out a fist toward Senga.
"Watch closely. Haki comes in three types. I'm about to use Armament Haki!"
With that, Zephyr's fist turned pitch black, and he punched the ground with full force.
A thunderous roar rang out. As far as the eye could see, the earth cracked and split from Zephyr's center point, fissures stretching all the way to the distant shore.
Senga watched the destruction Zephyr had caused and couldn't help but click his tongue. The power felt more than double that of Tsunade's Monster Strength Fist.
"This is Armament Haki. It's an innate power everyone possesses, usable for both offense and defense. Most importantly, it can strike the true body of a Logia Ability User!"
Withdrawing his fist, Zephyr explained the essence and function of Armament Haki to Senga.
Next, Zephyr had Senga attack him so he could demonstrate Observation Haki.
Senga instantly flashed forward, launching a barrage of Taijutsu strikes. Zephyr shifted and dodged, evading every single attack, even predicting Senga's movements to land a few simple counterattacks.
"This is Observation Haki. It lets you sense an enemy's position and predict their movements. Mastered to its peak, it can even foresee the future!"
Zephyr signaled for Senga to stop, then moved on to the final type: Conqueror's Haki.
"The last one is Conqueror's Haki. I can't teach you this one. Unlike the other two, it's a special Haki that only those with the qualities of a king can possess."
When it came to Conqueror's Haki, Zephyr showed some regret. He hadn't awakened it to this day, and it seemed he never would.
Senga figured Zephyr's lack of Conqueror's Haki might be tied to his "no-kill" justice. "No-kill" was too merciful, far removed from the concept of "conquer."
As for whether he himself would awaken Conqueror's Haki later, Senga wasn't too concerned. First off, he didn't believe he'd get knocked out by it. If he did, he might as well pack up and head back to the East Blue to plant orange trees.
Even if Conqueror's Haki could later be used for coating to enhance attacks, even becoming the meta answer, his Rinnegan was a bug outside the meta.
His Rinnegan wasn't fully developed yet, but it already had plenty of powerful offensive options. He didn't need this so-called Conqueror's coating. Once his Rinnegan evolved completely, eventually reaching Six Paths mode, a single Truth-Seeking Orb would handle all kinds of flashy tricks.
After demonstrating both types of Haki, Zephyr taught Senga the specific training methods, warned him not to rush and hurt himself, then picked up his coat and strode off coolly.
"Zephyr-sensei, the back of your coat is filthy!" Senga shouted after Zephyr, who had already walked some distance away.
Zephyr stumbled, shot Senga a glare, patted his coat, and vanished in an instant.
"Hahaha! Old as you are, still trying to show off! Bullying me because I don't have a coat to flick, huh?"
Senga felt a surge of satisfaction and couldn't help but laugh up at the sky.
After his laughter faded, Senga recalled the months of Zephyr's teaching and favoritism, touched at heart. He gazed in the direction Zephyr had left, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Don't worry, Zephyr-sensei. Some things—I won't let them exist in this world again."
