Chapter 55: The Snow of Mount Tylephos (Part Two)

Mors sprang up from the bronze bell of the clock tower behind him. In less than a thousandth of a second, he pulled a sheet of pure white paper from the air and slapped it onto the bell's surface.

With a flick of his right hand, a quill appeared. Disregarding rhetoric and dramatic phrasing alike, he began writing at speed.

"Peturabo, you have grown and matured, and no companions remain together forever. Simply put, farewell. Do not hope to find me again..."

The next instant, the faint sound of mortar crumbling from the edge of a wall brick, caused by the recipient of the letter, came from the other side of the massive bronze bell.

With astonishing lightness, Peturabo had suspended his three-meter-tall body outside the clock tower. The only reason he had not entered was that, even curled up, the immense bell had not left him quite enough room to fit.

"You really are here, Mors." Peturabo lay over the edge of the clock tower platform, a specially made oversized laurel wreath hanging neatly from his brow as decoration. The young giant gave a small wave. "The banquet has started... What are you writing?"

Mors crumpled the paper into a ball and tossed it into the air. The paper ball disintegrated into dust on its own.

"Now that you're here, it doesn't matter. I think you've grown up, so it's time to say goodbye—do you have to cling to the wall where everyone can see you?"

Struck by the sudden catastrophic announcement, Peturabo snapped off a piece of relief carving from the edge of the clock tower.

He caught the broken stone and placed it inside the tower to prevent it from falling from such a height. His brows immediately
