Kazuna led Konoha’s campaign against Kumogakure, winning major battles while deepening his influence and fueling conflict with the village leadership. After Shin'ichirō Sarutobi died in an ambush, evidence implicated Setsuko Sarutobi as a possible enemy spy, leaving Konoha’s leaders to confront the suspicion.

• Kazuna manipulated Pakura into cooperating with him, and Sunagakure joined Konoha in condemning Kumogakure and preparing for war.
• After Naruto’s damaged seal began leaking the Nine-Tails’ chakra, Kazuna accused Danzo of causing the danger, and Torifu forbade most people from approaching Naruto.

Kazuna maneuvered through Konohagakure’s political crisis while the village fought successive wars with Iwagakure, Kumogakure, and Kirigakure. The arc left Torifu’s forces badly depleted at the Kirigakure front, with Kazuna still withholding his support and neighboring villages gathering strength.

• Pain welcomed Hiruko and Juzo Biwa into Akatsuki after their fight, while Kazuna defeated Deidara and fought Pain to a draw before Konan intervened.
• Kazuna’s concert with Killer B raised tensions among the villages, and Sunagakure’s attack on Konohagakure’s camp led to a disastrous clash with Hiruzen Sarutobi.
• Kazuna helped Konohagakure repel Iwagakure and Kumogakure, then pursued the retreating forces and secured 100 million ryo in compensation from Kumogakure.
