History
Spirit Hall takes in and raises war orphans such as Chen Changfeng, who was brought to Spirit Academy after his parents died in a border war. Its academy conducts Spirit Awakening ceremonies and trains youths through dangerous field exercises in the Spirit Hunting Mountain Range. 1 2
Its internal authority is divided between Bibi Dong's Papal Palace and Qian Daoliu's Worship Hall. While Bibi Dong's influence is extensive, Qian Daoliu retains control over the Elder Hall and Worship Hall; the Judgment Elder's authority is derived from him and carries exceptional weight. 9 11
During the Continental Soul Master Elite Tournament, Spirit Hall Academy wins the championship, while the actions of its Judgment Elder result in the deaths of Tang Hao, Shrek's three headmasters, and Dugu Bo in Spirit City. The resulting backlash from Heaven Dou and the major sects places Spirit Hall at the center of continental unrest. 28
After Chen Changfeng destroys the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Spirit Hall forcibly founds the Spirit Hall Empire. Its territory is formed from more than ten former kingdoms and duchies located between the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires, and Bibi Dong becomes its first emperor. 48 49
The new empire recalls its soul masters from halls in the former empires, calls on soul masters across the continent to join, and treats refusal as heresy. Its rapid expansion catches both great empires unprepared. 49
Ten thousand years later, the Spirit Hall Empire remains the continent's dominant power. Spirit City serves as its Eternal Imperial Capital, and the empire's Shrek Supervisory Corps holds law-enforcement authority to investigate persecution by Evil Soul Masters. 121 126 132
In the Battle Through the Heavens world, Chen Changfeng and Qian Renxue establish a new force under the name Spirit Hall through alliances with the Snake People Tribe, the Eastern Amethyst Lion King Mountain Range, and the Yun Lan Sect. Qian Renxue serves as its Empress. 226
Facilities and Territory
- Spirit City — Spirit Hall's original center and later the Spirit Hall Empire's capital. It houses the Papal Palace, Worship Hall, Douluo Hall, Spirit Plaza, and the western mountain forbidden ground. 5 132 134
- Spirit Hunting Mountain Range — A controlled training ground behind Spirit City containing ten-year soul beasts. It is guarded by armed Spirit Hall soldiers and enclosed by a fortified iron fence. 2
- Spirit Plaza — Venue for major tournaments and public events; later contains a thousand-meter arena protected by 108 defensive Soul Tool pillars. 20 134
- Star Picking Pavilion — A nine-story sacred tower in Spirit City's forbidden ground. Each Spirit Hall Empire ruler must pay respects there before taking the throne. 132
- Spirit City's Forbidden Ground — Formerly the Ghost Face Pig Mountain Range and Spirit Hunting Mountain Range; it contains over-hundred-meter statues of Qian Renxue and Chen Changfeng. 132
Political Structure and Policies
- Spirit Hall historically draws support from common-born soul masters rather than aristocratic families; its Titled Douluo and Golden Generation are described as having grassroots origins. 31
- The organization initially lacks the conventional military strength of the two empires despite possessing the continent's largest concentration of soul masters. 65
- Following the empire's establishment, Spirit Hall's expansion relies on its recalled soul masters, duchy and kingdom territories, and the reputation of its Judgment Elder. 49
- During a later internal restructuring, Spirit Hall's affairs are assigned jointly to the Nine Great Elders; the positions of Holy Maiden and Holy Son are abolished, and all members are ordered to honor only the Young Mistress. 64
Relationships
- Qian Daoliu — Great Enshriner of Worship Hall and the authority behind the Judgment Elder's position; he supports Spirit Hall's continental unification. 5 11
- Bibi Dong — Pope of Spirit Hall and first emperor of the Spirit Hall Empire; her Papal Palace operates alongside, and sometimes in tension with, Worship Hall. 9 49
- Chen Changfeng — Spirit Hall's Judgment Elder, empowered to eliminate major enemies and widely feared for his destructive campaigns. 6 28 48
- Qian Renxue — Worship Hall's Young Mistress and an Angel Clan descendant; later honored as one of the empire's two guardian gods. 5 64 132
- Spirit Hall Academy — Spirit Hall's educational arm and the training ground of the Golden Generation. 1 9
- Heaven Dou Empire — Major rival that demands accountability for killings in Spirit City before entering open conflict with the Spirit Hall Empire. 28 49
- Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan — Formerly a major sect with a complicated relationship to Spirit Hall; it declares war on Spirit Hall before being destroyed by Chen Changfeng. 34 40 48
Legacy
- The Spirit Hunting Mountain Range becomes a holy site after the gods' descent, preserving the memory of Qian Renxue and Chen Changfeng through monumental statues. 132
- Later generations describe the Spirit Hall Empire's unification of the former Heaven Dou and Star Luo territories as the beginning of roughly seven thousand years of peace and prosperity. 121
- By the later era, Spirit City has a permanent population exceeding twelve million and can hold up to twenty million people including visitors. 132
