Zhen Bei lay on the hood of a sedan, unwilling to get up.

The red in his eyes had dimmed, leaving them lifeless. His entire body felt as though his bones had fallen apart. Heaven knew how he had endured several hours of desperate fighting. Fortunately, at least he had not been bitten to death by that Two-headed Monster. He had no idea which of its two heads actually called the shots.

Explosions in the distance continually kicked up shockwaves that scattered dust everywhere. Planes screamed overhead, dropping missiles, while armor-piercing shells blasted the ground full of craters. Zhen Bei only wanted to seize the chance to rest for a while and ease his aching, swollen muscles.

He removed his helmet, revealing a weary face, then fumbled around until he found the cheap cigarettes in his pocket. He pulled one out, stuck it between his lips, and shakily raised his lighter.

After failing to light it twice, he took a deep breath to steady himself.

He held the cigarette to the tiny flame, took a drag, and exhaled curling smoke, his eyes hazy...

"War... is bad."

With effort, he raised his head and saw a bright light rapidly approaching through the gloomy black clouds on the horizon. It was as though fire were flying within the dark clouds. In the blink of an eye, it was above him, followed by a brilliant white flash that illuminated Zhen Bei's face and forced him to squint!

Both heads of the Two-headed Monster roared at the light. After fighting for nearly an entire afternoon, it was still as fierce as ever!

The clouds were blindingly bright. From afar, a Light Pillar could be seen falling and striking the monster. The glare was so intense that shadows even appeared in the backlit space
