Zhen Bei is a reincarnated battle soul who remembers nine previous lives, each ending in defeat and death amid war. His lives span conflicts from the Great Tang through later dynasties and World War II; the accumulated grief, hatred, and refusal to abandon his country form the foundation of his Military Fiend nature. In his tenth life, he grew up in Chuanggou Village in poverty. As a teenager, he trained alone in practical shield-and-saber techniques that resembled the methods of a veteran formation soldier.
