Towering trees pierced the sky as three people ran for their lives through the primeval forest!
Many humans ventured into the Hundred Thousand Mountains to gamble for a better future. Resources such as spiritual medicine in the Central Plains had dried up, while many cultivators could not do without external aids. Thus, adventuring into the Southern Wasteland became a path to wealth. Some entered the mountains alone, others in groups of two or three. With luck, finding expensive and rare Spirit Grass, spirit fruits, or resources such as ores could change one's life overnight.
But they might also remain in the Hundred Thousand Mountains forever, with life and death impossible to predict.
Aside from the small number who came here to temper themselves, most adventurers were impoverished cultivators hoping to change their fate. Some could not even afford storage bags and could only carry everything on their backs or in their hands.
The three had crossed through the territory of the Jiuli Black Tribe to search some sparsely populated region for a chance to get rich. They had gathered many medicinal herbs and had even encountered a century-old spirit fruit. This expedition had brought abundant gains. Yet when they wanted to withdraw, they discovered that the Black Tribe's territory was filled with poison corpses. Forced back into the forest by the poison corpses, they had no choice but to retreat.
That was when disaster began. The three unlucky men encountered a Leopard Demon...
